Swatch Sunday: The Balm – Meet Matt(e) Nude

My first The Balm palette! This was a surprise gift this past Christmas from my aunt. I was so surprised that she picked out a brand I’d been wanting to try(without me even mentioning it! As the title would suggest, all the shades in this palette are matte.

    1. Matt Garcia, I think. I keep using it to darken up the outer corner of makeup looks that are lacking a bit of depth. I have noooo idea what to do with the butter-yellow shade though!

        1. It is. Between that and the white, there aren’t really any true brow highlighting shades (for me anyway). I’ve had to mix the butter yellow and the white to get a highlight shade. Although tbh, after doing it a few times, I just give up and reach for a proper highlighter!

          1. Hi, I use the banana yellow one to soften the darker brown colours. If I use the dark brown shade on the lid or in the crease, I need to work a bit to blend it out or it can be a bit harsh for day, then I soften it with the yellow shade. Linda Hallbergs (Bangers Beauty ?) has a youtube tutorial in which she uses only this palette on her eyes and she makes good use of the yellow one. Hope that helps!

          2. Oh that’s fantastic! Thank you so much for the tip – I’ll be sure to give that a shot the next time I pull out this palette. 🙂

  1. Matt Singh looks kind of ‘bleh’ in the pan but I love how peachy the swatch is. Not that I could ever pull off a shade like this.

    1. Everyone loves it, it seems! My aunt picked it up on Amazon.ca and had it shipped directly to me. Maybe that’d be a good way to get it?

    1. I think the problem is the price point. I remember thinking that The Balm products were a little bit steep whenever I’ve looked at them. Although I don’t know how much this was since it was a gift! Quality is amazing though.

    1. Oh that’s a great idea. The nice thing with this palette is that I find it’s so versatile for ADDING to other palettes. Need to darken up the outer corner? You can do that! Transition shade! That’s in here too.

  2. I have yet to acquire anything by the balm but these palettes are really intriguing! I think If I were to get something it would either be this or the Lou-manizer!
