I don’t think I speak often about bronzers, although I’m not sure why, because I FREAKING LOVE THEM. If you’re a regular reader that goes through my “What’s On My Face” volumes, you’ll note that I’m always wearing some kind of bronzer. Even if I don’t have lipstick on, I’ve still go some kind of healthy glow going on my face. There’s something very, very satisfying about taking a big ole brush, swirling it in a compact and then dusting it onto your face in select areas!
Make Up For Ever recently launched a whole whack of new bronzers – Pro Fusion Bronze – that feature a shade range intended for everyone. And they didn’t half ass it either. Boasting six new compacts, the range of shades gives you the option to choose from two finishes – matte luminous or softly iridescent.
Made out of the same firm gelee type powder as the Sculpting Duos, the Pro Bronze Fusion bronzers promise “no trace, no powdery finish, only mistake-proof colour”.
Being the bronzer addict that I am, I was like “oh hell yes, bring on the darkest colour you’ve got, let’s see what this puppy can do!” So I opted for shade 30M, the deepest shade they had in a “matte luminous” finish.
And then I swatched it and it terrified me. I mean, holy shit, look at that! The underside of my arm might as well be alabaster to that intensely chocolately-bronze shade! The bronzer does promise to be “lightweight, [with] buildable coverage and effortless blendability”. So with that in mind, I went to town.
This is my face with only foundation on it for my comparison.
And here we are with the Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion bronzer in 30M. I applied this to the outer edges of my forehead, the very back, top area of my cheekbones, along my jaw line and on top of my nose (because hey, that’s where you tan right?).
And you know what? It works, it really, really works. I have a relatively pale skintone and I can make the darkest of these bronzers work for me with little to no work at all! It is buildable, so even though it may look like I went lightly, rest assured that you can build this up and get a pretty intense bronzed look. For the sake of my own skin tone though, I kept it to how I would normally wear bronzer: apparent, but not overdone. (Or so I think, anyway!)
Final Thoughts
Due to the nature of the gelee powder, you don’t find yourself kicking up a lot of powder (and consequently getting WAY too much product on your face) which helps immensely with application. I love that the 30M shade has a slight reddish hint to it, which is something I *really* like a bronzer since I tend to look more red than orange when I get a natural tan.
This bronzer is highly foolproof. It doesn’t look powdery or unnatural at all. It claims to be waterproof, but I don’t ever wear makeup around water so I’d have no reason to test that. However, I have worn it on some ridiculously hot days here in Toronto (looking at you “feels like 37C”) and it’s neither faded nor worn away.
I also am hugely appreciative of the fact that there are a whopping SIX SHADES in this range. This gives everyone the opportunity to find something they love, or find something that they feel comfortable wearing. LOVE.

I also really like the red over orange tinge! This bronzer sounds like a dream to work with
It’s ridiculous to work with. So smooth and easy to blend!
It looked so dark on your arm but it looks so natural on! I have a problem with using too much powder so this line sounds lovely!!
I know, it looked like a total nightmare product when I swatched it. The first time I did a swatch, I was like oh my god what have I gotten myself into… But yeah, it blends out so evenly! I can be fairly heavy handed with some bronzers and blush, but the formula of this one really kills the excess product that I seem to always get with other powders!
This bronzer looks amazing! It suits your skin tone so well which is nice. Im glad that it doesnt have a lot of kick up too, I hate wasting product. Great review!

Excess kick up is not only a waste, but it always tells me I’m going to have problems blending out the product!
yup even a bronzer noob like me totally got behind this launch. it was so easy to use and you’re right, to not over apply.
I loved your post about it, because it showed just how subtle this can be done. (Plus I loved the fact that your face was happier with one of the bronzers – haha)
Oh wow, it looks really natural on your face but holy, does it look scary as swatch! I’ve only started using bronzer few months ago and it does make a whole lot of differences. I’ve not used a lot of Makeup Forever product but this will definitely be in my list to try.

That’s the beauty with this gelee powder stuff – soooo easy to use and not go overboard!
Which bronzers do you use and love? I’m always after new ones!
I remember when we were first launching these and one of my coworkers gushing over them. I’ve surprisingly not tried them on myself yet! It’s funny because I’m getting into bronzers just now and fall is going to be here soon. lol
30M looks really nice and natural on you! Definitely not too dark for you.
Hah! I feel you like you should be diving headfirst into the new product since you work for them! I wear bronzers all year round really… I just opt for lighter, more matte shades since I definitely pale out during the winter!
This looks very natural on you!
I only started wearing blush this summer, so bronzers are still far on my list of things to try, hehe. 🙂
Blush was REALLY intimidating for me to first start wearing and I think it was only four years ago that I started. I was soooo worried that I’d over apply and look like a fool! (Now I don’t care if I overapply and look like a fool – I’ll wear what I want damnit!)
this looks great on you, i love that you were like, DARKEST SHADE PLEASE. these MUFE bronzers are really gorgeous.
lol as soon as I swatched it I was like “WHAT HAVE I DONE???”
Wow, this really looks natural given how dark it looks in swatches. Super flattering on you, Chelle! 🙂

It’s all in the product, I swear! Blending really wasn’t an issue, thankfully.
