Halloween never really ends here on Makeup Your Mind (and I’m okay with that)! Today’s post covers Alison‘s Poison Ivy makeup as well as give you a good look at her costume in full. For details on her costume, please visit her blog post that has all the details.
Poison Ivy
Seriously adorable. I love this shot so much!
So let me start off by saying that I did her makeup and I’m really, really not used to doing beauty makeup on other people. I think I’ve only ever done makeup on my cousin before and maybe one or two high school friends (14 years ago!). So this was a bit of an exercise in nervousness for me but I was happy to be able to do it on someone else whom I’m extremely comfortable with!
Eyes
- I first swept Makeup Geek‘s Latte through her crease.
- I then applied Too Faced Creme Brulee shadow on the inner corner of her eye all the way to the middle. I then used Inglot Pearl 418 on the outer half of the lid and pulled it out quite far out to make it dramatic.
- I then lined her upper lash line with Kat Von D‘s Tattoo Liner in Trooper and actually managed to create a successful wing in one shot. And then again on the other eye (SUCCESS!) I then applied Lit Cosmetics‘ Soul Sister glitter on top which… unfortunately looks patchy. Not happy with that one.
- On the lower lash line, I used Lit Cosmetics’ Mary Jane glitter.
- She applied her own CoverGirl Clump Crusher mascara and then I popped on some Quo lashes she brought. (And by the way… applying false lashes to someone else? SO MUCH EASIER THAN PUTTING IT ON MYSELF.)
- For the lips, I had her apply MAC‘s Russian Red first, then some Too Faced Jelly Bean on top.
- Sidenote: Alison has AMAZING skin. She’s wearing absolutely nothing on her face -no foundation, no blush, no bronzer, no highlighter!
And there we have it! I was glad that she trusted me enough to do her makeup and I’m glad it turned out decently well. It also gave me a lot more confidence in working on someone else’s face!

that green lit glitter on the lower lash line is gorgeous!!! too bad about the other one…is it the glitter itself that is a bit patchy or the way you used it? it’s hard to imagine a glitter being patchy but unfortunately it does look that way, you can’t tell at all when her eyes are open though and i’m assuming that’s how they were most of the night!

It was totally my application of the glitter. I’ve used it on myself before without issue, but I’m still quite a newbie to applying makeup to other people so I don’t really know how hard I can press on their eyelids. lol
haha ! makeup artist problems…
