This post is nothing more than an appreciation for embossed products – ones I’ve loved enough to wear down the gorgeous pattern that’s been imprinted on it. Enjoy!
Let’s start this post off with one of the more infuriating products I’ve had the pleasure of working with; the Physicians Formula Bronze Booster was in my Use Up 2014 project… and as you can see I clearly did not finish it up (or even hit pan!). The only thing I managed to do was dust away the sun emblem that used to appear in the very middle. I became so enraged with my lack of progress on this bronzer that I really don’t think I touched it at all in 2015. Damn thing hurt my feelings! 😉
With the infuriating product out of the way, let’s talk about something I love immensely. My MAC Sea Me, Hear Me blush is one I’ve reached for continuously since I bought it in 2014 (I even mentioned it in my 2015 Favourites video). I seem to have been focusing on wiping out the curve of the wave as well as the repeated MAC logo on the upper half.
Another stunner from MAC – the highgly coveted Whisper of Gilt. I purchased this when it was repromoted and it’s been my go-to highlighter when I want a gold shade. Unlike the blush above that has the same pattern, this one seems to flake off in odd chunks. It never looks that way on the skin, but it’s certainly left behind a mottled pattern!
Although the bronzing side from this Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Duo (#1) hasn’t been touched much, I can’t say the same for the highlighter! The iridescent pinky-beige highligter is unbelievably epic. Since it can lean quite pink, I tend to reserve it for days where it’ll work with my makeup, but that definitely doesn’t mean it gets neglected in my collection! I’ve swiped clean the center of the upraised bumps and I’m sure I’ll have the whole thing cleared off by the end of the year. (Full review on the Pro Sculpting Duo right here.)
I’m sensing a pattern here… everything I adore with an embossed pattern seems to be either a bronzer or a highlighter! Although the highlight shade of the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow has seen some action, it’s really the sculpting/bronzing side that’s taken a beating. I love that Sculpt shade for almost any makeup look together – it’s just so versatile!
essence‘s Autumn Peach was a surprise winner for me. When I first used it, I knew next to nothing about essence as a brand, nor what to expect out of such low-cost products. But this blush completely blew me out of the water – I couldn’t believe just how flattering it looked on my face! As a result, I’ve worn this sucker over and over again and the center ring has already been destroyed as well as some of the other circles to the sides. Love, love, LOVE!
My Tarte Off The Cuff blush and bronzer palette saw a lot of love from me over the years, but it’s the bronzer that’s carried the bulk of my love. Park Ave. Princess is such a smooth and buildable bronzer that it’s easy to see why so many people are in love with it! I’ve seemingly destroyed the middle of the Amazon River imprint. Oops!
So how about you? Can you bring yourself to dab your brush into beautifully embossed products? I know I’ve got a few friends out there that find it difficult to dip in for fear of ruining the pattern!
The essence blush and Make Up For Ever duo were provided for my consideration (clearly many, many moons ago).
I love the idea of this post! It can be so hard to finish or even hit pan, so this is a great idea to show what products you like. I’m totally going to do a post like it.

Yay! DO IT! As a blogger, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to hit pan (forget finishing something!!) as we collect more and more products. And we all loved patterns on products soooo this was an easy one! 😀
Also, if you can come up with a better name… by all means, use it! I was so stuck trying to come up with something. :s
This would make for an awesome linkup! Love this post, and whisper of guilt is so pretty!

Isn’t it crazy pretty???
I love this post idea!! I’m totally going to steal it 😉 I always feel both excited and sad when I start to wear the embossing down because it’s usually so pretty!

Do it! I’d love to see more beautiful products by bloggers!!
This was such a satisfying post to read! I love the nice crisp look of a new product, but the worn down look is also really great because it just goes to show how much you enjoy it/ how often you use it!
Love it!

That’s exactly why I posted this! I know we all love new products, but it really IS satisfying to see what happens when the pattern gets worn down!
What an interesting concept! I really want to try the other MUFE duo, the more golden but I feel the same way – I don’t know if I’d use the bronze portion!
Yeah and it’s a lot of money to spend for just half the compact. I really wish they’d release those highlighting shades as singles. They’re so freaking stunning and really deserve their own compact. The bronzer I do wear… occasionally, but only when I’ve got more of a tan so I can get away with more of the orange tones. That being said, both compacts are quite similar (in regards to the bronzing shade) so there’s not a lot of variety for deeper skin tones. But goddamn those highlighters… well worth the price tag, even for just that side of the product!
I love this idea! I’m totally one of those people who doesn’t like ruining the pretty though. I love embossed patterns.

But the products want to be used and loved! 😉
It’s always though to dip into a beautiful design, but that doesn’t hold me back. If I buy a product, it’s to use it! 😉

lol I knew you would! 😀
I just read a comment on IG the other day about how ridiculous it is that beauty bloggers only ever wear down the pattern in one part of the pan. But I’ve literally never met anyone who doesn’t just repeatedly dip into the centre!

Wait… that’s a WEIRD thing? Where the hell else would you put your brush???
It’s always a touch sad whenever I have to use a product that has pretty pattern on it but hey, we got to do what we got to do right? 😉 I’m going to pick up Autumn Peach for myself, that’s a stunner!

We totally gotta do what we gotta do!
Autumn Peach is so, so worth it (and cheap as chips too!). I hope you love it just as much as I do!
I have heard only amazing things about that MUFE highlighter side! too bad the bronzer isn’t great but sooo pretty. I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever worn the pattern down on something….whoops. Definitely a fun idea for a post though! I am hoping to hit pan on a few more things this year…maybe…

The bonzer (well really they called it more of a contour shade) is just way too orange to be used as a contour.
Yesss pan porrrrn!
Why do they put such pretty patterns on products? Makes me almost not want to use them… but I still do! 🙂
Love that essence blush too! That’s what really got me in to wearing blush.

To make us buy them of course! 😉 I’m such a sucker for anything with a pattern on it!
