Clinique has got a good thing going on with their gorgeously embossed powder “Pop” line! When the blushes came out a few years ago, everyone was in total awe. I mean, how could you not fall in love with the beautiful clear acrylic containers alongside the beautifully embossed daisy imprint? I mean, the whole thing is basically a makeup lover’s dream!
More recently, they’ve extended that line up with their Lid Pop eyeshadows (and really, who didn’t see that one coming??). These eyeshadows contain as absolutely astounding 6 grams (well, almost! They have 5.95 grams each.) of product. When you compare them to a normal eyeshadow pan which usually contains about 1.3-1.5g, you realize just how much product you’re actually getting in one of these!
Clinique describes these eyeshadows as “a modern wash of silky, long-wearing eye shadow”. I do feel they pack more colour punch than a “sheer wash”, but there is some variety in intensity between all four shades I tried.
Easily the most unique shade out of the whole bunch, Willow Pop, is a gorgeous burnt gold with some kind of green shading in there. I really don’t think I have any other colour like it in my entire makeup collection!
Although this is called Cream Pop, there is a soft hint of orange to the shadow. Maybe a bit champagne?
Petal Pop is the soft pink of the lot. It’s predominantly a baby pink, but it does have soft gold reflects in it.
The last shade I have is Grape Pop, a beautiful purple that fits the “colourful, but not too colourful” eyeshadow look that most people are looking for!
In the shot above, I’m wearing Willow Pop all over the lid with Cream Pop in the inner corner. Willow Pop is seriously such a unique shade. I love how it looks green, gold and bronze on my lid! Cream Pop was a lovely accent colour to the whole look and I applied it to the inner corner of my eye.
Above, I’m wearing Petal Pop all over the lid with Grape Pop through the outer corner and crease. I was able to build Grape Pop up, but it wasn’t as dark as I expected it to be right off the bat.
Final Thoughts
The Clinique Lid Pops breathe a breath of fresh air into Clinique‘s lineup of eyeshadows. They’re the perfect complement to the Cheek Pops and I’m so glad they decided to keep going with the “Pop” idea. The eyeshadows are soft to the touch and easy to work with, although some may need more building up than others. You will find that the daisy pattern will start to wear off pretty quickly once you start dipping into the pans regularly. Of the four I tried, Willow Pop was easily my favourite just because it’s so unlike anything else I’ve ever owned.
Although the eyeshadow price tag is a bit up there in price point, pound for pound, these are infinitely cheaper just because you’re getting so much product in each compact. (This is less important for makeup obsessors since we’re unlikely to go through a full eyeshadow any time soon, but rather this is a great point of interest for people who don’t tend to wear a ton of eyeshadow and instead stick to the basics – this eyeshadow, if used daily, will last you an INCREDIBLY long time!). My recommendation? Get a few shades you know you’ll love!
The Clinique Lid Pops can be purchased on sephora.ca for $22 CAD each or on sephora.com for $17 USD each.

Willow Pop is definitely the standout shade for me too, I feel like these shadows are pretty foolproof so definitely good for beginners and like you said, will last forever!

Yeah it’s a GORGEOUS shade! Kind of out of the blue too since the other colours in the range are what one would consider “normal fare”.
Oh wow Willow Pop truly is gorgeous. I knew it was going to be pretty just by looking at it in the pan, but on the eyes – wow!!

It totally changes colour a little bit depending on what shades you match with it. That one is definitely worth picking up the most in my opinion!
Willow Pop was made for you!!! They are just so damn pretty, the flower, the clear packaging .. That is a ton of product, I was going to say they are pricey but you’re right if you have a shade you think you’ll wear all the time it is totally worth it!
The packaging kills me every time. So well done Clinique – so well done!
It’s about time they move away from the marbled, minty green.
I so agree. The mottle green with the silver accent was not doing them any favours. Sure, it made the brand identifiable, but we’re long past the age where only “older women” use them.
I am definitely feeling Willow Pop! What a gorgeous shade!

Ooh Petal and Grape, those are definitely shades I’m drawn to. 🙂

They’re totally you colours!
I don’t think I have anything remotely close to Willow Pop so that would be the one that I would purchase. And no kidding about the amount that we’re getting, eh? It would take me years to hit pan!

There’s definitely zero chance of me ever hitting pan on one of these for sure!
I like Willow Pop but I feel like I so rarely hit pan in palette sized eyeshadows that singles as big as these are not worth it

I know – I almost feel like the size of the pans are more for non-makeup addicts. You know, the people who only own five shadows and use them all daily. This would be really helpful for them!
