Just last month, INGLOT unveiled their latest collection – an enormous 70 piece array of products in collaboration with Jennifer Lopez! The launch was a massive surprise to everyone – not only has INGLOT never really done a collection with a celebrity such as this -but never before had they created brand new products specifically for a launch (previously they had bundled together existing products to make collab collections).
Not only is the 70 piece collection impressive, but what’s even more impressive is that they managed to keep this entire collection under wraps for two whole years! In a world where makeup brands are constantly being scooped or leaked before they’re prepared to announce a collection, I was shocked that this had been development for so long without a single whisper of news being revealed before INGLOT was ready to announce it.
I attended the collection launch party in Toronto at INGLOT‘s store in Dundas Square and got to preview the items the day before they were released to the public. JLO wasn’t in attendance, but the lovely girls at the store ran us through how the collection came to be: Jennifer had attended an INGLOT store in Oxford, England and had fallen in love with the brand two years ago. She ended up reaching out to the brand and asked them if they wanted to collaborate!
Over the next two years, JLO and INGLOT worked together to develop new colours, new packaging, and…. EVEN NAMES! INGLOT, while one of my favourite brands EVER, has always annoyed me in the sense that they number their products instead of giving them real names. I was so happy to see that the Jennifer Lopez collection were given proper names alongside the usual numbers.
The packaging is sleek matte black with burnished writing. The square pan above is part of INGLOT‘s freedom palette system and there are several combinations available in this collection. INGLOT‘s regular freedom system has clear tops, whereas the JLO collection has an opaque one.
My freedom system came with two eyeshadows and a blush. Overall the JLO collection is very golden, warm and glowy, so I was surprised that the shades I received in my goodie bag were a bit different (not complaining though!).
The blush shade is actually called “Blush” (J121), and the two shadows are Deep Amethyst (J323) and Charcoal (J327). Blush is actually my favourite kind of coral/peach/pink colour for the cheeks so I was really happy about that, and the two eyeshadows are unlike anything I have in my already extensive INGLOT eyeshadow collection. Deep Amethyst is pigmented as all get out in a swatch, but Charcoal was a little bit more dry, which I wasn’t sure how it would translate onto the eye.
As it turned out, I needn’t have worried about Charcoal because it blends onto the eye beautifully. I used Deep Amethyst on the lid and Charcoal on the outer corner and the combination is perfect together.
INGLOT makes some of the absolute best eyeshadows on the market, and these two were no exception.
There’s a whole whack of lipsticks in this launch, and the bulk of them are verging on the caramel/neutral side of things which is very appropriate since I often see JLO with a lip colour that is similar in tone to her skin.
The two shades I received are Flamingo (J217) , a warm pale pink, and Champagne (J213), a caramel-toned nude.
Both shades are matte, and the pigmentation is completely opaque.
Flamingo surprised the heck out of me. I thought for sure this would pull less pink on me since I thought it looked quite beige-y in the bullet, but I’m so glad it did end up looking pink on me because the colour is beautiful.
Champagne is much more of a brown-peach nude that is very JLO in my opinion.
Both lipsticks are mattes, and they apply a bit stiffly. What surprised the heck out of me is that they do not feel drying whatsoever once you get them on the lips. These are actually my first INGLOT lipsticks so I have no point of reference to their other formulas, but I was impressed with how they felt once you got them on. My reaction went from “oh man this is not going to work” to being pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they felt.
Final Thoughts
I’m so, so happy that INGLOT has collaborated with Jennifer Lopez! I have loved INGLOT as a brand for many years but I often feel like they don’t get the recognition that they deserve. I expect this collaboration with JLO will bring a lot of much needed attention to them.
The INGLOT x JLO collection is definitely on the bronze, golden and nude side of things which is very, very JLO. If you’re a fan of her, a fan of INGLOT, or just find the overall colour range appealing, I’d absolutely encourage you to check out the collection and the brand as a whole!

I’m loving the colours you got in your freedom palette and those would work for me. The lipsticks, not so much. At least I don’t think so since those types of shades don’t usually work for me. They do sound really nice to wear though and look great on you!

Yeah the collection was definitely quite beautiful, but on the neutral side of things (although it can definitely be built up to be quite dramatic!). The lipstick shades aren’t usually the colours I reach for either but they did wear nicely!

Ah such a nice look you made with the shadows! I like that blush!! 🙂

The blush is right up my alley and I was so surprised that that kind of shade was included in this collection since it’s quite peach/coral in comparison to the rest of the shades in the line. Not complaining though – LOVE it!
