I feel like I’m constantly trying to show enough love to all of the lipsticks in my collection… which means it’s an ever rotating list of the ones I’ve worn every day! Here’s the latest 5 lipsticks that have been on my lips.
This is an OLD lip product that I recently dug out because I wanted something lighter and easier to wear. Something that was my lips, but better, and something that would wipe off easily when I was going out to a restaurant to eat. I got the Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in Basic Instinct in an Ipsy bag a very long time ago, and I’ve used it off and on since then.
And as I said – this one is just EASY to wear. It’s comfortable and has just the right amount of gloss. Although the brand refers to this as a lip gloss… I’d never call it that. This is just a lipstick in a tube with a high shine finish. It’s definitely quite creamy and has opaque coverage. If you wanna see me applying it, I’m using it in my recent Get Ready With Me video.
Although Too Faced has long since discontinued their Melted lipstick range, I still wear them ALL the time. Melted Melon is a summertime staple for me – it’s a gorgeous vibrant coral shade that is utterly luminescent. And if you still have it in your collection – dig it back out because it’s beautiful!
Apparently I’ve not worn this lipstick shade much on camera or for the blog, because it was hard to find a picture of me wearing it. The only one I could find was a thumbnail from an old video featuring my Makeup Geek collection.
More of a muted peach, Bite Beauty‘s Lit Turmeric has been a great shade to pair with yellow eyeshadow looks (I’ve been wearing a lot them lately). The faded orange tones in the lipstick make it a bit less loud of a colour on the lips, so it’s great for easy makeup days.
And what can I say about Bite‘s lipstick formula other than that it is absolutely flawless and there truly isn’t a dud in their Amuse Bouche lipstick range. I love the creamy texture, the longevity and the scent/taste of them. Hands down they are one of the best lipstick formulas on the market.
Which is why I’m talking about another one by Bite! I’d say, without fail, I wear at least one Bite lipstick a week just because they’re so good. Pickled Ginger is the shade above and it’s one of those colours that absolutely screams my name. I love anything neon coral – which is exactly what this is.
You really can’t go wrong with Pickled Ginger. I feel like it lights up my whole face!
Too Faced calls their Peach Kiss lipstick in Disrobed a “warm peach nude”. I pair this lipstick shade with so many different eyeshadow colours and it works so well with each of them.
It’s funny… I wouldn’t normally think the warmer tones of a lipstick like this would work with the cooler purples on my eyes… but Disrobed is really transformative. If you’re looking for an easy to wear shade to go with your bright eyeshadow colours… I’d suggest this one!
How about you? What lipstick shades have been gracing your lips lately?
The first two lipsticks mentioned were purchased by me, the remaining three were PR samples quite a long time ago. Post contains affiliate links.
I feel like more and more bronzers keep popping up on the market lately… and I ain’t mad about it because it’s one of my favourite face products to apply. I just love swirling my big ole brush in a massive pan of product and using it to warm up my face. It’s the next best thing to having a real tan, and obviously much, much better for your skin. I’ve been trying out the new(ish) MaybellineCity Bronzer range lately for all of my bronzing needs.
The City Bronzers are actually labelled as a bronzer and contour product, but it’s going to depend entirely on your skintone if these will work for you as a contour shade. I don’t contour with any kind of frequency, so I use these strictly as a bronzer. The City Bronzers are infused with whipped cocoa butter and come in three matte-finish shades.
Of the three shades, I have 100 and 200 which are the most likely to suit me. There’s quite a shade gap between 100 and 200, so I think medium skintones may be able to use 200 if it’s applied quite heavily. 200 also has a bit more of a warmer edge when compared to 100. For me, 100 is a winter bronzer, and 200 is a summer bronzer on my skintone.
Since it’s July right now and I have a bit of sun on my face, 100 comes across very, very pale. You can barely even tell I have bronzer on my face in the above shot. For me, this makes it an ideal winter bronzer since I know it won’t look too obvious when I’m at my palest.
Right now, 200 definitely has more depth on my skin and I’ve been using it a lot to add some strength to my summer tan!
Final Thoughts
Although I didn’t use the MaybellineCity Bronzers as a contour, I’m impressed that they lean neutral enough that I could’ve potentially used them that way if I wanted. Bronzers, for the most part, tend to have a very warm edge to them which can make them harder to wear as a contour product so it’s so nice to see a bronzer that isn’t so warm toned because not everyone is comfortable using such warm shades. In practice, they’re easy to apply and quite pigmented. I used a lighter hand for 200 in order to ensure I wasn’t going ham with the bronzer, but I think that’s good because medium skintones may be able to use as a bronzer. There is only one darker shade though (300), so I’m not sure how super deep skintones will fare with these shades.
TL;DR: Nice tones and good shades for light (potentially medium) skintones. Soft and easy to blend.
