Bourjois Rouge Edition

Bourjois Rouge Edition

For Holiday 2015, Bourjois has 5 Shades of Rouge for you to sift through to find your perfect shade. And I’ve found a favourite new red shade amongst them!

BourjoisRouge Edition #10 – Rouge Buzz is an absolute stunner. I put this one on and it completely blew me away. A neon orangey-red that glides on flawlessly and immediately lit up my face! This may be recommended for brunettes, but to hell with that, I love how this looks on me!

Rouge Buzz wears very, very well. Although it’s creamy, it stayed put on my lips which is hugely appreciated. It’s supposed to last 10 hours while being continuously hydrating. I never wear lipstick that long, but I did find this hydrating for the four or so hours I wore this before I removed it.

Come on. Tell me that isn’t gorgeous??

The Bourjois Rouge Edition #05 – Red My Lips come in an “Aqua Laque” formula. It’s an intense red recommended for blonde hair.

Sidenote: I’m always so iffy on these “recommended for [insert hair colour]” products. If you like the shade, you CAN wear it, no matter what colour it is or who it’s recommended for!

This formula was a bit of a new one for me. It did have some shine to it, but after about 45 minutes it dried down to a bit of a tacky consistency. I had some trouble with application as I found the product would gather up a bit as I put it on and was patchy in other areas.

On the lips, it looks quite like a jelly finish, but I wasn’t in love with how it felt.

Final Thoughts

While Red My Lips was a pass for me, Rouge Buzz has become an absolutely favourite shade of mine. The lipstick barely has a scent and no discernible taste – a HUGE plus for me since I’m often sensitive to scents that are not to my taste. The formula of Rouge Buzz is cushiony and hydrating, which makes this lipstick incredibly comfortable to wear. It’s the kind of product that makes me happy when I wear it, and there’s really nothing more I could ask for in a lipstick!

Let me know if you’ve tried Bourjois lipsticks before! As this was my first introduction to them, I’m interested in hearing what you guys think!

Swatch Sunday: Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons

My love for the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palettes knows no bounds. I actually got up at 4 am on launch day to order this (it’s a good thing I did, the palette actually sold out on that day!) and then gritted my teeth as it took over a WEEK to get to me.

Makeup addict status? In full effect.

Say hello to the third installment in the chocolate palette lineup; the Chocolate Bon Bons palette (I was already lusting over sneak peeks back in SEPTEMBER!). While the packaging of the other palettes resembled a chocolate bar, this one is more… uh… Barbie-themed. (I’m not a fan of the pink packaging as I find it far too girly for my own tastes.)

Packaging aside, while I’m obsessed with the Too Faced chocolate line up, I wasn’t overly enthused by the shades I saw in previews for the palette. However… now that I own it, I take it all back. While it is “yet another neutral palette”, there are some unbelievable colours in here. Cafe Au Lait has stolen my heart. As has Molasses Chip (holy pigmentation). Bordeaux is the kind of shade that makes my heart swoon.

Skincare Saturday: Embryolisse Hydra-Masque

Embryolisse - Hydra-Masque

Everyone is aware of the Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre face moisturizer after the Pixiwoo sisters made it famous several years ago in their videos, but what do you know about the rest of Embryolisse‘s products?

I’m lucky enough that my brother lives in France, so I get the opportunity to try some brands I don’t always have access to in Canada. Whenever him or my parents, who often visit, come back from France, I often ask them to pick me up skincare items from the pharmacies. Last year my dad came back with the Embryolisse Hydra-Masque (19€) – an intense care hydrating mask for all skin types.

The mask is white and creamy, but not stiff. The instructions indicate you apply it to clean skin and let it sit for 5-15 minutes. It also says you can rinse it off after use OR leave it on your skin to soak in over time. I always rinse it off because the texture is too thick to reasonably sink into my skin fully over time.

The Hydra-Masque‘s texture is thick, but it doesn’t look like a white paste on my skin. Mostly it’s just shiny. I let it sit for the full 15 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water. I’ve been using this every month or so for the last year and still have a little bit left in the bottle. My skin always feels extra hydrated after I’ve done this mask, and I’ve never felt the need to apply a moisturizer after using it, even later on in the day. I also find it doesn’t have much of a scent, which is an enormous blessing in a face mask. Two thumbs up over here!

Let me know if you’ve tried anything else by Embryolisse – I’m looking to expand on my collection!

Fitness Friday: ExerTies

ExerTies

Ever heard of ExerTies?

ExerTies
ExerTies

ExerTies are a soft silicone strap that can be used to hold up the sleeves of your shirts on your shoulders. (Why, you ask? Because generally I get too hot playing soccer outdoors during the summer AND I don’t want nasty tan lines.) They come in a wide range of colours including a lot of vibrant neon shades. Although their primary function is to hold up sleeves, they can be used to secure cables together, attached to luggage to  easily identify your baggage, etc.

Since I play soccer, I took advantage and tried them out during one of my recent indoor games. They slide under my sleeves and neck easily. The silicone is super soft to the touch and it doesn’t tug on my skin at all. (Which I had actually kind of been expecting.)

Although the hot pink isn’t a colour I’d normally go for, they showed up really so you can see how they work. They sit well on the shoulders and because they come in such a huge array of colours, you can pick whatever matches your jersey or outfit.

Overall, they worked better on my soccer jersey since the material is a bit more slippery and the top is less form fitting. While wearing them with a t-shirt, they tugged a little bit, but that’s mostly because the t-shirt is a lot tighter than my regular jersey.

It’s been a while since I played competitive soccer, but straps of any kind were not allowed back in the day (even rolling up your sleeves was an absolute no-no), so I’m not sure if that’s changed in recent years. In my more recreational teams that I’ve been playing on, I’ve always taken to tucking my sleeves into my bra straps. ExerTies gives you the option of using their straps to make sure it’s locked in place without it slipping out from under my bra straps (something I massively appreciate in the heat of the summer). The silicone is VERY soft, you don’t have to worry about injuring another player with them.

Are they necessary? No. But they ARE a nice to have item and especially great for coordinating team colours to show your spirit.

ExerTies can be purchased on amazon.com and are $17 USD for 6 pairs (12 total straps).
