Inglot + Mamma Mia!

On April 24, 2015, Inglot launched their Gimme! Gimme! Glitter collection and just this past Tuesday, I was invited to attend an event at their Toronto location to view a demo of the products on actual cast members of the musical!

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Inglot. Before they were available in Toronto at Dundas Square (and even moreso now on their online shop for Canadians), I’ve gone to many a country in search of their products (you may think I’m kidding, but I’m really not – I’ve picked up Inglot products in Ireland, Austria and the U.S.). So getting invited to one of their press events? Kind of feels like I’ve achieved a life goal!

I… I can’t…. Gyahhhhh

Inspired by the Broadway musical Mamma Mia!, the collection includes 35 pieces in blues, silver whites, pinks and purples. I was drawn in by the amazingness that is their specially re-done Freedom System palette that focuses on every colour of the rainbow. If ever there was a palette with my name on it, I would hope that it would be this one. (For those interested in the individual shades, they are: 474, 362, 59, 51, 372, 495, 371, 441, 388 & 35.)

While the palette was the absolute showstopper for me, there’s also a lipstick palette, and a variety of other products that are not only enticing, but also incredibly vibrant (nail polishes, lipsticks, gel liners, pigments and a duochrome blue tinted lip gloss!).

One of the things I liked most about the collection and display is while the colours are certainly vibrant (and I would expect nothing less from Inglot really), they’re also placed there in a way that really makes you think about the colours. I’ve never worn blue lipstick, but this display definitely made me consider it (for one very brief, very small moment).

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to stay very long since I had nipped out of work on my lunch hour to attend the event. Several of the Toronto-based beauty bloggers were attending the event, so it was nice to catch up while we oogled the new collection from Inglot. I said my hellos and goodbyes within 45 minutes and then begrudgingly headed back to work to finish up my day.

Unfortunately, I’m ashamed to say I’ve never actually seen the musical, although I know I’ve seen the movie a few years back. Does this Mamma Mia! collection speak to you? The vibrancy of that palette is really, REALLY calling my name!

Happily Ever Essence Event + Giveaway!

Last Thursday, I attended the Happily Ever Essence event – a launch party for essence‘s Spring/Summer 2015 collection. The event was held at Casa Loma, which made for not only some stunning pictures, but hilariously, turned a lot of us into tourists in our own city as very few people had actually been there before!

Having come straight from work, I met up with some fellow bloggers on the subway (Sam from Gemstone Beauty and Steph from fun size beauty).

Headed down the purple carpet.

After we’d climbed the stairs of doom (if you’ve been to Casa Loma, and came from Dupont station, you know what I’m talking about) we were sent immediately to the basement where a purple carpet was stretched out before us. Impossibly cute touches on the wall included posters of new essence makeup releases.

We were bang on time, so the Screening Room had yet to fill up. To set the scene, the room was filled with an aura of purple light, essence branded bags, towels, drop cloths and limited edition product props were littered throughout the dungeon-esque room. The Princess Bride was playing on loop via projector at the back of the room. It was beautiful!

They even created a purple drink especially for the occasion (although I can’t for the life of me remember what was in it). We got the low down on some of their new products as well as some old staples. My points of interest were the Lash Princess and Plump NO clump!mascaras and a brand new 2-in-1 liquid liner that has a chisel tip on one end.

I managed to snag a shot with several of the CBBers at the event, so be sure to check them out as well!

I had a wonderful time (seriously, this event went on for three hours and I loved every second of it – usually they last for an hour and by then everyone is ready to pack up and leave!), got my nails did for the first time ever (no really) and then walked out with an enormous bag of makeup to try out!

Giveaway Time!

And this is where the giveaway comes in! I received a ton of product that I either will not use (looking at you, lip gloss), received duplicates of, or straight up already had them in my collection. I checked with the company and they are more than happy to allow me to giveaway the extra products to my readers!

What’s On My Face – Volume 36

Another roundup of looks from the last few weeks. Enjoy!

The last one I have from our trip to Florida. I will never get enough of Peanut Butter as a transition shade, so beautiful!

Eyes
(all Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette)

  1. Caramel all over the lid.
  2. I screwed up the numbers! This area is still the same shade as #1 above.
  3. Truffled in the outer corner.
  4. Peanut Butter through the crease.
  5. Coconut Creme on the brow bone.

On my lashes is Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch mascara.

  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: Astor Feeling Feline (lip product used as a blush)

Holy crap. Wet n Wild‘s California Roll palette (limited edition from the Silverlake collection) turned out to be a stunner. I even managed to use every single shade from the palette in this look which is fairly awesome.

Eyes
(all from the Wet n Wild California Roll palette, although the shades have no names)

  1. Peach colour all over the lid.
  2. Red shade on the outer corner of the lid.
  3. Pale beige shade on the lid.
  4. Shimmery beige on the inner corner.

On the lower lash line I applied the paler green shade on the inner half of the lid, and then the darker green on the outer half. To create the wing I used MAC‘s Blacktrackfluidline and applied Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch mascara to my lashes.

Rest of the Face

  • Blush: Milani Coral Cove
  • Highlighter: Hard Candy Tiki
  • Lips: Benefit Coralista gloss

Oh wow. I was expecting Colour Pop‘s Bae to look something like MAC‘s Club, but it’s not at all the same. This is so much more intense with a high blue sheen. It’s really, really incredible.

Eyes

  1. Colour Pop Bae all over the lid.
  2. MAC Sketch on the outer corner and through the crease. Sketch is also smudged along the lower lash line.
  3. Too Faced White Chocolate on the brow bone.

Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch mascara is on my lashes.

Rest of the Face

  • Bronzer: Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Duo #1

  • Highlighter: Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Duo #1

If it’s not already obvious, I often bust out neutral eyes just so I can wear bright lipstick. I feel like I know nothing about matching bright eyeshadows with bright lipstick, so I always default to a look like this when I want to neon on my lips.

201504_womf_vol36_look4-2

Eyes
(all from the Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral 02 palette)

  1. Orangey-brown through the crease
  2. Light peach all over the lid.
  3. Dark brown and black on the outer corner.
  4. Palest shade on the brow bone.

To create the wing I used Make Up For Ever‘s Ink Liner and then applied Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch to my lashes.

Rest of the Face

  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: Illamasqua Tweak
  • Highlighter: Too Faced Candlelight
  • Powder: Hourglass Ethereal Light
  • Lips: Too Faced Melted Candy

Playing  around with some of my Colour Pop shades. The lid shade (Too Soon) is very similar to the Pink Sugar shade from the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette, but actually applies to the lid the way the shade looks (as opposed to the glitter bomb that Pink Sugar is). So if you liked the look of Pink Sugar but hated how it applied, check out Colour Pop‘s Too Soon.

Eyes
(all Colour Pop)

  1. Drift through the crease.
  2. Too Soon all over the lid.

  4. One & Done on the brow bone.
