Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Care Range (inc. new Lavender Lip Mask!)

Bite Beauty Everyday Agave Lip Collection

My jaw just about fell on the floor when this PR package by Bite Beauty showed up a few weeks ago. It’s a lip care lover’s loveliest dream: every single shade of their Agave Lip Mask (including their new Lavender shade!), the Agave Sugar Lip Scrub and the Agave Lip Balm. Sadly, the entire package you see above isn’t available for purchase, but it does give me the opportunity to talk more in depth about Bite‘s glorious Agave range.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Masks
Bite Beauty Agave Lip Masks

The Agave Lip Masks are billed as “an intensive nightly recovery lip mask to soothe lips and replenish moisture”. The formula contains agave nectar and jojoba oil which nourishes and hydrates the lips so that you wake up with softer lips. I do actually wear these overnight (and I’ve been busting through a previously purchased Maple one), but they can also be worn as a regular ole lip balm throughout the day.

While Bite‘s price point is a bit up there for some people ($30 CAD/$26 USD for one of the lip masks), there’s actually a ton of product in these tubes! There’s 15 grams/0.52 ounces which may not sound/look like a lot, but in terms of measurements… that is HALF the size of a regular bottle of foundation! Bet you never thought of it like that!

Bite has released more and more shades/flavours over time, and the Maple one has definitely been a staple of mine since it launched with the Canadian lipstick collection a few years ago. Bite‘s latest shade launch is Lavender, and oh wow does it EVER smell like lavender! The Agave Lip Masks, for the most part, smell and taste very sweet – the Lavender one is quite different in this sense as it smells a LOT like lavender with only a little bit of sweetness.

One last note on the packaging – all the Lip Masks come sealed which helps to keep the product fresh. Turn the cap over and pierce it with the needle-like nub on the inside of the cap and you’ll be able to poke an easy hole through the seal.

As you can see, some of the lip masks pack more colour than the others, but these are incredibly heavy swatches. On the lips everything becomes far more sheered out – even the darkest two colours (Smashed and Maple) become very, very sheer washes of colour. This makes for easy application on the go, which is something I always appreciate in a lip balm/mask!

Bite Beauty Agave Sugar Lip Scrub and Agave Lip Balm

Rounding out Bite‘s Agave range is their Sugar Lip Scrub (a potted scrub) and Agave Lip Balm (a stick balm much like their Multisticks).

Bite Beauty Agave Sugar Lip Scrub and Agave Lip Balm

Sadly, the Agave Sugar Lip Scrub isn’t really to my liking. While it tastes phenomenal on the lips, fundamentally I just don’t like that there isn’t enough scrubby sugar particles in the formula. I feel like the base is quite thick and luxurious, but overall I personally like a lot more sugar particles in my lip scrubs so this one gets a pass from me.

The Agave Lip Balm is much easier for on the go than the Lip Masks, which may suit a lot more people. I know not everyone likes using their fingers to apply lip balm, so this may be an easier option for slapping on a nourishing lip balm. It has a slightly firmer texture than the Lip Masks (makes sense – it is a solid balm after all!).

Final Thoughts

The Bite Beauty Agave Lip Masks are some of my absolute favourite lip care products in the world. Like a true Canadian, my favourite flavour is Maple and that’s the one I’d recommend the most… but honestly they’re all of the same excellent quality. It’s just a matter of finding the shade and scent that suits you the best. I know there’s a lot of lavender lovers out there, so you guys are going to be over the moon for the new scent!

As for the Agave Lip Scrub, that one gets a pass for me, but the Agave Lip Balm is a quick and easy lip saviour for on to the go. It’s one of those toss in your bags and use as needed products – quick, easy, and efficient.

Bite Beauty Prismatic Pearl Multisticks (Review & Swatches)

Bite Beauty Prismatic Pearl Multisticks

A few months back, Bite Beauty launched their Prismatic Pearl Multisticks and I was super intrigued – I mean just look at the boxes! They’re rose-gold and holographic, who isn’t in to that??

Bite Beauty Prismatic Pearl Multisticks

While I was not pulled into the original release of Bite‘s Multisticks, I have to say that this range definitely appealed to me a great deal more. While the original lineup was all cream and matte formulas, this new launch is chockful of shimmering shades with definite duochrome edges to them. The Multisticks are intended for use basically everywhere – your lips, your cheeks, even your eyelids!

The shade range is fairly interesting too – while there are the usual pinks and roses, there’s a gorgeous blue-brown colour (Peacock Pearl) and a really neat white/clear base with pink shimmer (Blush Pearl) that really took my breath away.

Swatched out you can see there’s a lot of texture and reflection to the shades. They are definitely all super saturated with colour and have a lot of pearlized particles.

Pink Pearl is a soft pearlized shade that’s one of the most wearable on the lips in this collection.

Pink Pearl also makes an absolutely beautiful soft highlight.

Wearing Peacock Pearl on lips

Peacock Pearl is really neat looking on the lips, but a little bit patchy overall.

But uh… don’t wear this on your cheeks if you’re my skin tone.

Also… don’t wear this on your eyes. This is creasing within 2 minutes of application, and it’s on top of double-primed eyelids and powder shadow that, as you can see, is not creased on the other side of my lid!

Wearing Blush Pearl on lips

Blush Pearl is ghastly on me. It’s chunky, patchy and just a mess.

Not bad as a cheek highlight though!

Wearing Oyster Pearl on lips

Oyster Pearl is easily my favourite. This is such a neat sheer gun-metal colour!

Bit less reflect on the cheeks, but still pretty.

Wearing Rose Pearl on lips

Rose Pearl is a weird shade and I feel the colour doesn’t really come off very well on the lips because it moves around a lot.

I was expecting more of a blush out of this one, and there is some colour tint to it.

My Thoughts

Ugh.

I absolutely despise these. I tried to keep my commentary kind of succinct and neutral above to describe the product, but I have to tell you these are absolute garbage in my eyes.

On the lips they are a gritty, chunky, patchy mess. They never feel comfortable since they’re always moving around (you can literally feel the bits moving if you squish your lips together AND it leaves horrible clusters on the inner corners of your lips). They almost dry down… but not quite…. leaving you with dehydrated lips and a chunky mess. It just FEELS wretched.

On the cheeks… I’ll admit that the overall sheen in some of the photos I posted above is quite beautiful, but they just don’t dry down. I cannot handle having a sticky cheek for an entire day, so that makes it completely unwearable as a highlighter to me.

On the eyes… another no. VIOLENTLY NO! Since they’re chunky and don’t dry down, you’re going to end up with severe creasing in a matter of minutes. And to make matters even worse, it’s STICKY. So your eyelid ends up sticking to itself in the most unflattering way. Chunky, creased and sticky? I seriously cannot think of a worse eye look.

In short, the only way these Multisticks are wearable is by using them as a lip topper on top of another lipstick. On their own these things are completely unwearable on every facet of my face that these are claimed to be made for. They’re uncomfortable (seriously, that grittiness on the lips is just awful) and awkward to wear.

Overall, I find this launch to be so incredibly disappointing for Bite Beauty. I *love* the brand and wear their lipsticks all the time! But this useless product was so bad that I really couldn’t recommend these to anyone unless you’re doing something editorial and won’t be wearing it for the whole day. Blech.

The Bite Beauty Prismatic Pearl Multisticks can be purchased on sephora.ca for $28 CAD each or on sephora.com for $24 USD.

Bite Beauty Lip Pencils (Review & Swatches)

Bite Beauty Lip Pencils

I’m always sooo curious when Bite Beauty decides to venture outside of doing just lipsticks. Granted, their brand new Lip Pencils (and subsequent lip pencil shade extension launch) is still very much FOR YOUR LIPS, but I’m still always like “oooo”. And frankly, I suppose a lip pencil is long overdue for them since they ARE so known for their lipsticks, but hey, I’m intrigued, okay?

Bite Beauty Lip Pencils

When Bite launched their lip pencils, they basically boomed into Sephora. And onto Influenster (seriously, who DIDN’T see those on blogs, Instagram and Twitter??). The shade selection was impressive at the time, and even more so now since they’ve launched additional colours. Looks for a navy lip liner? You got it! Black? YES! And white too!

Bite Beauty Lip Pencils

The Bite Beauty version of the lip pencil is what I would call fairly standard: it’s a wooden pencil that you sharpen with any old standard sized eye/lip pencil sharpener. The lip pencils contain whipped shea butter and glide on the lips smoothly. These are not a stiff, overly drying lip pencils – I was impressed with how easily it was to pencil in my lips without causing ANY dragging. As a result, you may find the formula is on the softer side, which will require a little bit more sharpening than some of the dryer, harder formulas out there.

I was sent a wide variety of shades, which was really, really nice since it gave me the opportunity to play around with the differences between shades. I was really, REALLY happy to see that 054 shade. A colour to match my Bite Squid Ink lipstick?? Heck YES!

Final Thoughts

I did the daring thing (for me) and wore these under lipstick without any primer. For those new here, I am incredibly prone to lip line bleed out unless I use a lip primer so I was basically taking my life in my hands while testing these out. (A bit dramatic, I know.) What I experienced was very interesting – even with a super creamy lipstick, this lip pencil gave me the most amount of protection towards lip line bleed out that I have ever experienced outside of primer. Sure, there was a tiny bit of bleedout, but considering I am usually required to wear a lip primer with any lipstick, this was extremely impressive. So two big thumbs up for that.

Lip line bleed out covered – I can assure you that these are a very comfortable lip liner to wear because they are inherently creamy. That being said, they’re not so creamy that you’ll find your lipstick moving around (huge plus). It’s like it’s creamy, but dry enough to stay put, but definitely not uncomfortable.

The only downside though? I’m not a huge fan of the cap – I think it’s designed really weirdly and could be done a lot better.

Overall, if you like lip pencils, you can’t go wrong with these. I like them not only because they’re lovely, but also because they’ve got some oddball shades covered in there. Hooray for not just your standard nudes, pinks and reds!

The Bite Beauty Lip Pencils can be purchased at sephora.ca for $20 CAD each or on sephora.com for $18 USD.

A(nother) Red for the Holidays (featuring Bite Beauty’s Mistletoe)

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Mistletoe

I don’t know about you, but I feel the need to be wearing a red lipstick on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. It just feels like a seasonal requirement, you know?

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Mistletoe
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Mistletoe

Over the years, I’ve changed up what red I wear on that particular festive day. Sometimes it’s MAC’s Russian Red, sometimes Too Faced’s Melted Berry (which is arguably more berry-toned than RED-RED, but hey, whatever!) or the cheap-but-beautiful Wet n Wild Stoplight Red.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Mistletoe
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Mistletoe

This year I’m going a bit deeper in tone with Bite Beauty‘s Amuse Bouche holiday release, the aptly named Mistletoe! Isn’t is a beauty? It’s a beautiful deep, dark red with a faint hint of brown.

As with the rest of the Amuse Bouche range, Mistletoe is exceptionally comfortable to wear and has a light citrus scent and taste. It also has a satin finish, but I would personally classify it as more of a cream since there’s a bit more sheen to the lips than I would expect for a satin.

For me, nothing beats a festive red lip and Mistletoe is a definite stunner!

So how about you? Are you a red lip fiend for the holidays like me? Or do you wear another staple colour throughout the holidays? Let me know! And since today is Christmas Eve, and regardless of whether or not you actually celebrate this holiday, I’d like to wish you a wonderful time spent with family and friends. 🙂

Bite Beauty‘s limited edition Mistletoe shade can be purchased on sephora.ca for $30 CAD or on sephora.com for $26 USD.

Bite Beauty Stocking Stuffers (Review & Swatches)

Bite Beauty Stocking Stuffers - The Perfect Bite and Mini Lipstick Duos

Alright, we are getting down to the wire for Christmas gifts (ones to pick up for yourself AND for others! ;)). Bite Beauty always puts out gorgeously cute mini sets for the holidays and this year was no different!

Bite BeautyAmuse Bouche Lipstick Duos in Gold/Sour Cherry, Opal/Jam and Rose Gold/Fig

One of the more enticing and unique items that Bite puts out are their Lipstick Duos. They’ve updated these duos to include their Amuse Bouche lipstick formula as well as update the colours available.

Bite BeautyAmuse Bouche Lipstick Duos in Gold/Sour Cherry, Opal/Jam and Rose Gold/Fig

Each lipstick is double ended and you have to keep in mind that they are mini versions of the lipstick itself. A lot of people are shocked when they first open the package (as was I when I got my first one years back), but I’ve found these tiny bullets to be so freaking handy when I’m on the go. And let’s be real here: sometimes you don’t need a full lipstick tube!

Each duo comes with a primary lip colour which is your more standard every day lip shade, but on the other end it comes with something the makeup community has started calling a lip topper. Sure, you could wear the gold shade on its own, but when you put it on top of Sour Cherry, it adds a little extra oomph to the lipstick!

While the Amuse Bouche Lipstick Duos are readily available online right now, you may find the highly coveted Perfect Bite set is a little bit harder to come by (check your local Sephora stores!).

Bite Beauty The Perfect Bite
Bite Beauty The Perfect Bite

Encased in a beautiful tin with an enormous mirror on the inside, Bite‘s The Perfect Bite set is a holiday staple for the brand. They include four mini sized lipsticks in some of their more commonly sold shades which makes this a great way to try the brand out.

I’ve been raving about Fig for quite some time, but I’ve never picked up the other shades so I’m super happy to be able to try them all out without committing to a full size lipstick.
