One of my Christmas presents from my husband was this Charlotte Tilbury quad that I had been lusting over for quite some time. The Rebel is a green-lover’s paradise and I am oh so happy to add it to my collection!
Haul time! Here’s the makeup I amassed throughout December – many of them thanks to family members! <3
I’ve become so obsessed with Too Faced that I actually got up at 4 am to order the Chocolate Bon Bons palette on launch day. No, I’m not kidding.
And I’m glad I did it too because the palette promptly sold out by the end of the day! Unfortunately, it took a bit longer to get to me due to a hold up at the post office in the adjacent city being rammed with boxes, but hey, I’ve got it now! I’ve already done swatches which you can see here. A Challenge Week will be forthcoming, but I’m afraid you’ll have to wait till January for it!
Are you guys even interested when I buy makeup wipes? Here’s yet another package of NeutrogenaHydrating wipes – once again purchased when they were on sale.
Awwww Nemo’s taking a peek while I shoot photos.
This one was a joke gift in my stocking, but I had to include it anyway. Frozen lip balm! (And it’s not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be!) There’s tiny flecks of glitter in there as well!
Helllloooo gorrrrgeous! This is the Charlotte Tilbury “The Rebel” quad. I’ve loved my Vintage Vamp quad so much that I wanted another one to add to my collection (pricey little buggers) and my husband was kind enough to gift me one!
Until now, I had held off trying out Charlotte Tilbury‘s Matte Revolution lipsticks because I just didn’t want to fall in love with a lipstick that costs almost $40! I put Lost Cherry on my wishlist and also got it as a gift. I loooove that colour!
And lastly, I put in an enormous Makeup Geek order in November and it only just arrived this month. (The USD exchange rate was not only brutal, but I also got drilled with a customs charge as well. Ugh.) I picked up the entire Duochrome pigment and eyeshadow bundle ($150 USD) and four of the normal shadows that I hadn’t gotten around to picking up yet (Baby Face, Morocco, Pixie Dust and Shore Thing – $6 USD each).
Tell me – what’s the one item you bought/received in December that you loved the most?
Yesterday, on Christmas Eve, we traveled from Toronto all the way over to Wisconsin for the holidays. We drove (well, I’m writing this in advance and yet I’m referring to myself in the future… so this is weird) the 11 hours or so it took to get to Wisconsin and brought the cats along with us. By the time you’re reading this on Christmas Day, we’ve hopefully made it safe and sound and I don’t want to strangle Kolme (she’s a howler when we travel). We’ll be staying with my husband’s family near Madison for Christmas and New Year’s, and I *pray* they get snow because Toronto sure doesn’t have any!
Two of the palettes I’m bringing are the brand new Too FacedChocolate Bon Bons and my Charlotte TilburyFilmstar Bronze & Glow.
The Too Faced Bon Bons is a bit of a risk because I’ve barely played with the palette yet so I don’t really know what kind of looks I can come up with. It’s quite neutral which at least makes it fairly easy to play with while on vacation. The Charlotte Tilbury duo is going to be my only highlighter and bronzer on this trip. I like bringing more expensive products to use around Christmas time because it makes me feel kind of fancy. 🙂
And of course, what’s the holidays without some dramatic lashes? I’m bringing along my Houses of Lashes lash glue and a pair of their lashes in Noir Fairy. They’re already cut down to size since I’ve worn them before so I needn’t worry about trimming them while on vacation.
I say this every time I bring foundation on vacation, but I’ll say it again regardless… I haven’t a clue if I’ll even wear these. I’m not generally in love with foundation as I find I just want to tear it off my face after about 8 hours or so (it has nothing to do with the foundations thesmelves, just the general feeling of having paint on my face). I like the Smashbox primer because it’s tiny and works well, and the IllamasquaSkin Base is lovely to wear but doesn’t get enough use in my collection so I thought I’d bring it along as well.
And what’s the holidays without a little bit of shimmer spray?? Smells like vanilla and spews out silver shimmer… I loooove it!
I never ever feel like I bring enough lip products when I travel because I swear I’ll get there and wish I brought different items! My ClarinsRosy Nude is a perfect neutral shade for every day wear, MACRussian Red is a holiday staple for me, as is my Too FacedMelted Berry. The Bite BeautyAgave Lip Mask in Maple is along for the ride to keep my lips hydrated and because the scent is so stinking delicious!
Random assortment of items here… My Kat Von DTattoo Liner in Trooper is a surefire liquid liner for all my travel purposes. I’ve got an H&M Beauty lip primer in there, a Make Up For Ever glitter (hello New Year’s!), MACBrick lipliner, Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer and my favourite Make Up for EverSmoky Stretch mascara.
Another bit of a risk here… two medium to deep-toned blushes and no basic pink! TarteExposed has gotten a lot of love from me over the years (I’ve even hit pan on it!) and it a foolproof shade to match with the neutral eyeshadows I’ve packed. And of course, there’s my beloved CliniqueCola Pop. I can’t believe I haven’t worn the flower embossing down a bit more, I wear it constantly!
And all of that is crammed into a medium sized Sephora makeup bag. Merry Christmas everyone!
It’s that time of the year where us beauty lovers go bat shit crazy. All of the fall collections are out and the Holiday 2015 collections are already starting to drop like napalm bombs onto our bank accounts.
I’m making this post basically to figure out exactly what I want and how much it’s going to cost me (always a frightening notion). I realize it’s September and the holidays are still MONTHS away… but my husband has been singing Christmas songs since July (no, I’m NOT kidding!) and I’m already feeling festive.
Here’s my “To Buy” or “Not To Buy?” list:
Kat Von D Mi Vida Loca Remix Palette
This is my absolute number one this year. I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. It’s not only got the perfect rainbow of colours but it even has neutrals in the middle. This would solve my “I want brights AND neutrals” problem when I go on vacation. Plus hello, look at the packaging. It’s GORGEOUS.
Price: $71 CAD/$59 USD Release date: September 15th online, October 3rd in stores Where to buy: Sephora exclusive
Urban Decay Vice 4
I swear I love the packaging more than the actual shadows inside! I think it’s something aout the layout of the shadows… they’re just not calling to me like last year’s did. HOWEVER, I loved the Vice 3 from last year and I really want to add another one to my collection. Those oranges are definitely calling my name! And how can you not drool over that oil slick inspired packaging? /salivates
Price: ~$70 CAD/$60 USD Release date: September 25th at Sephora Where to buy:Urbandecay.com or Sephora
Urban Decay Urban Spectrum Palette
I totally forgot about this palette, so I was surprised when pictures started showing up online recently. I’m torn on this one… I’m way more into the shadows in this compared to the Vice 4, but I definitely do not need more cool toned shadows in my life. There also isn’t a single matte or satin finish shadow in the whole box so it’s a LOT of shimmer. However, there are some shades in here that I missed out by not purchasing the Anniversary palette several years ago so that makes it even more enticing. This is an Urbandecay.com exclusive, so you’ll need to order from their web site if you want to get your hands on it.
Price: $55 USD Release date: October 20th Where to buy:Urbandecay.com exclusive (EDIT: Seems it may be coming to Sephora as well!)
Charlotte Tilbury – SOMETHING!
With Charlotte Tilbury recently launching in Canada it means I have easy access to product, and last year she had a STUNNING quad. I’m not sure if she’s coming out with something similar, but I think I’d like something from her holiday collection. There still haven’t been a lot of details released yet, but I’m looking forward to whatever they throw at us!
Price: No idea, but I know I’m going to end up cringing. Release date: Unknown Where to buy:Charlottetilbury.com
Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette
WHAT IS THIS BEAST? This is about the only information I’ve seen on the new Too FacedChocolate Bon Bons palette and I NEED TO KNOW MORE. It’s not technically part of the holiday collections, but I figure it’ll be launching relatively soon. I MUST HAVE IT IN MY LIFE. (Side note, I wasn’t that into the holiday Too Faced palettes because the shadows seemed too similar to the 2013 and 2014 holiday palettes I already own.)
Price: No idea, nothing’s been released yet! But if the other palettes are any indication, it’ll be around $59 CAD. Release date: Unknown Where to buy: Sephora more than likely.
Guerlain Meteorites Enchanted Snowflakes
https://instagram.com/p/7OMFjvFgrG/
I’ve never owned anything by Guerlain, but I’ve eyeballed the meteorites for so long that I’m glad I’m finally cracking. I must have these beautiful pearls of goodness. Ever since I saw Steph post about them on Fun Size Beauty, I knew they had to be mine (even if they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive).
Price: $89 CAD (GOOD GRIEF)
Release date: November 1st
Where to buy: Guerlain Boutiques and selected counters.
Other random stuff I have my eyes peeled for are some kind of palette by Laura Mercier since she’s put out two great palettes over the last few holiday seasons; and maybe something by bareMinerals as I’ve discovered I really like the texture of their eyeshadows but I barely own anything by them.
What’s on your wish list? What am I missing from mine?
In my (not so humble) opinion, there’s some pretty epic makeup looks in this post. Either I love how my makeup turned out, or I love how the shots came out. I hope you like them too!
Let’s start this off with what I feel is probably my best makeup look accomplished to date. (So I’m going to post a few extra shots of it because I’m really pleased with how this turned out.)
We were going to the pub to watch the Womens’ World Cup final (USA versus Japan), and since my husband is American, I defaulted to supporting the USA. It was so close to the Fourth of July too, so this could’ve doubled as an Independence Day theme as well.
I don’t always post huge eye shots because I typically take photos of my makeup before work and don’t have the time to perfect everything. Smaller photos hide some mistakes so I have less to worry about. But when I do guest posts, or feature products specifically, I like to make sure that I get as close to a perfect makeup look as I’m physically capable of (since I don’t airbrush my photos). But this one, despite being done in a relative rush, was done soooo well that I just had to post a full-sized shot!
And here’s what I used:
Eyes
MACCork through the top of the crease.
MACCrystal Avalanche all over the lid.
Urban DecayHeroine on the outer half of the lid.
MACBlanc Type on the brow bone.
I then patted MAC‘s Transparent Blue Glitter on top of the whole lid using Too Faced‘s Glitter Glue to make sure it stayed in place. I then used MAC‘s Strike While Haute shadow all along the bottom lash line, and applied MACReflect Red glitter overtop (again with the Glitter Glue).
The winged liner was done with Kat Von D‘s Tattoo Liner in Trooper and I lined my lower water line with Marc Jacobs‘ Blacquer. I applied a coat of CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher mascara and then popped on a pair of Bombshell lashes by House of Lashes.
Rest of the Face
Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in shade 52 Vanilla
Bronzer & Highlighter: Charlotte TilburyFilmstar Bronze & Glow
Cheeks: Elizabeth Mott – Tints & Sass
Lips: MACRussian Red
Next up is a product I waited far, FAR too long to use. It had been sitting in my “to use” pile but I never got around to it. And as soon as I did, I wore it three times that week! That beautiful neon red? That’s Kryolan‘s UV-Red pressed shadow and it is INCREDIBLE. Since it is a neon, it does need a sticky white base to make it pop. But damn… seriously amazing.
Eyes
I first applied NYX‘s Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk to the entire lid, blended it out, then:
Applied Kryolan‘s UV-Red to the entire lid of my eye and the inner tearduct.
Makeup Geek‘s Corrupt was used through the outer third of the lid, through the crease and on the lower lash line.
I created the wing with Kat Von D‘s Tattoo Liner in Trooper, coated my lashes with CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher and then put on a pair of Bombshell lashes by House of Lashes. I tightlined both waterlines with Marc Jacobs‘ Blacquer.

I swear this is such a vain post, but anyway… That shot on the left is my favourite shot of myself I think I’ve ever taken. It’s all thick lash line, fiery eyeshadow, chubby cheeks and intense steel blue eyes. AND I LOVE IT. I did this for a guest post on Vancouver Eyeshadow Addict back in May and somehow forgot to cross post it!
Eyes
Makeup GeekPeach Smoothie through the top of the crease.
Makeup GeekChickadee all over the lid.
Makeup GeekPoppy on the outer corner and through the crease.
Makeup GeekVanilla Bean on brow bone.
Naked CosmeticsIV-04 pigment on the inner corner.
I used Poppy on the outer corner of the lower lash line and used Chickadee for the remainder of the lower lash line. I then created the wing with Kat Von D Tattoo Liner inTrooper and tightlined with Urban Decay‘s Black Velvet liner. On my lashes is essence‘s Lash Princess mascara.

And lastly, a Makeup Geek look because I hadn’t yet played around with the new foiled shadow Pegasus.
