I don’t know what it is, but it wasn’t until I got into blogging that I started to get more and more exposed to Canadian makeup. And, having been born and raised in this country, it feels really weird to say that. Considering I can tell you a lot about brands that are available only in the UK, or only in the USA, it’s definitely strange that I can’t talk more in depth about some of my own homegrown brands. Maybe it’s because those seem foreign to me, and therefore more interesting?
So since I’ve not tried a heck of a lot of Canadian cosmetics, I feel like I’m constantly having my eyes opened to what’s available to me in my own backyard! I’m not going to beat around the bush with this review – Lise Watier has totally stunned me with how good these lipsticks are, so I want to take this time to tell you why I love them so much!
The Rouge Intense Suprême lipsticks are touted as having rich, intense colour in one swipe (totally accurate), incredible hold (ALSO accurate) and are hydrating and nourishing (yes, and yes!). Never before have I see a brand claim something so accurately in their product description and actually hold true on all claims!
These lipsticks come housed in reflective gunmetal case with a magnetic cap. No snapping into place here, these lipstick click into place and stay put once the magnet gets a hold of the other side!
And these buggers are PIGMENTED AF. They glide on like a dream – creamy and moisturizing – with barely any pressure on your lips. They stay somewhat glossy, kind of like a thick cream, but settle down a bit over time.
I’ve mentioned before, but I’m not a huge fan of wearing lipstick – in practice I find it a bit of a hassle: I’m constantly worried about it getting on my teeth, bleeding outside of my lip line, or basically just smearing everywhere. While there’s no tacky quality to the Rouge Intense Suprême lipsticks that I usually associate with a good stay-in-place lipstick, these actually stay hydrating but firmly in place on your lips. Every time I checked my teeth in the mirror at my desk at work, the lipstick hadn’t freaking budged from random movement (such as drinking out of a straw, or talking to people). Keep in mind though, although these stay in place, they are not transfer-proof.
Also worth mentioning is that they have a very light fruity scent in the tube, but there is no discernible taste on my lips.
Lise Watier Rouge Intense Suprême Lipsticks – Face Swatches
Arielle is verging on too pale of a pink for my own tastes, but I can see how a lot of others would find this a very easy and comfortable colour to wear. It’s the kind of colour that will match practically every eye look.
For me, Olivia is the kind of shade I’ll wear as an everyday shade when I don’t know what to grab for. It’s a beautiful deeper rose-pink.
AND HOLY FREAKING GOD – THIS ONE IS EVERYTHING! Jasmine is everything I ever needed in a lipstick colour! I found myself in constant awe of this colour when I put it on.
Final Thoughts
I have zero negatives to say about the Lise WatierRouge Intense Suprême lipsticks. They are intensely pigmented and yet stay put. They are hands down one of the most comfortable lipsticks I have ever put on my lips! (They’re in the same vein as the Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks which are some of my all time favourites.) At no point did my lips feel uncomfortable while wearing product (a common problem for me with lipsticks) and I actually feel like they moisturized my lips as well since I had no desire to apply balm after I removed them. In short – these are incredible!
The Lise Watier Rouge Intense Suprême lipsticks can be purchased on beautyboutique.ca for $27 CAD each (and there are plenty of other shades as well!).
This products featured in this post were sent to me for consideration.
Lise Watier‘s Palette Expression was a limited edition release for Spring 2015 (sold in stores between February and April 2015). It features mostly pastel shades with a few deeper colours.
September… you were a painful month for my wallet. Not only did ALL of the makeup brands decide to launch ALL of their freaking holiday palettes (like actually – they totally all did), but it was also a month I traveled to New York City (so obviously I had to take advantage of brands that did free shipping within the USA) AND Toronto IMATS happened. I’m actually physically removing my credit card from my wallet as of today because that poor thing has been rung up so many times I’m worried it’s going to burst into flames shortly. So despite my money flying out the window, this haul is actually a lot of fun because there’s a LOT of fun things in here.
As always, the haul is in chronological order, so there’s a lot more interesting things halfway down the page!
The least interesting thing I bought this month is Johnson’sBaby Shampoo so that I can finally clean my brushes again. I ran out at some point last month and waited till it was on sale to pick up the large bottle.
The next whack of items are marked as swap, which some of them are, and some are just overflows from other beauty bloggers who want to pass on some of the love (de-stashing, as it were). I really like the Jealous Body scrubs, so I snagged this Grapeseed and Macadamia one. I’ve reviewed their latest scents right over here.
I grabbed these two L’Occitane products simply because of the name. Verveine (French) is actually Verbena in English, and I’ve somehow found myself sucked into The Vampire Diaries recently and they use verveine to ward off vampires. It made me giggle, plus I liked the scent… soooo… mine!
I’ll never ever turn down free body care, so I looted the markCrazy for Cranberry body scrub, the Soap & GloryPeaches and Clean Deep Cleansing Milk and the Live CleanHydrating Creamy Cleanser. Because I don’t have sensitive skin, I am afforded the luxury of trying whatever skincare products happen to cross my path. Lucky me when someone else doesn’t want them!
Random assortment of makeup in here:
Rimmel Provocalips in Make a Move: THIS IS INCREDIBLE! It has unbelievable staying power and it’s not super drying like most liquid lipsticks. The colour is “fall appropriate” and I absolutely MUST have more in my collection. LOVE.
Rimmel Stay Blushed in Pop of Pink: These cream blushes intrigued me but aside from the texture and tube, there’s nothing particularly unique about the shade. Quite pretty on the cheeks though.
Maybelline Rebel Bloom lipstick in Coral Burst: OH MAN. I wanted this shade so badly from the Rebel Bloom collection but told myself I didn’t need it because I’m sure I have a near dupe in my collection somewhere. So I was mighty happy that someone had a duplicate of the shade and was more than happy to toss it my way! (And yes, it’s fairly similar to a lot of other lipsticks I own.)
Shawna pressed me a pigment (using my own tutorial!) from NYX. I think the shade is Rustic Copper… and it’s GORGEOUS.
Soap Stories soap… because who doesn’t want free soap?
The Sonia KashukJewel of an Eye palette. I wanted it for SO LONG, but Target Canada never had it as far as I ever saw and I kind of figured it just wasn’t meant to be. Until a blogger destashed it and I was like OH YESSSSSS!
The Lise WatierExpression palette is full of pastel shades that I probably won’t get around to playing with for a while, but they looked super pretty so I thought I’d give them a shot. Plus I don’t tend to have muted versions of my bright shadows, so this’ll help with blending.
And now we come to the New York City portion of this haul. While visiting some friends out in New York, we went over to the Bite Beauty Lip Lab to get some custom lipsticks made. (You can read about that experience here if you like!) In the week I’ve been back I’ve already worn this shade three times. I’m amazed with just how much I love it!
Of course, what’s a visit to the US without placing a Colour Pop order? I ordered several of the Ultra Matte liquid lipsticks because EVERYONE is raving about them. The colour range I ended up with is a little strange for me, but I did manage to cut it down from 10 shades….
I also grabbed one of the Lippie Stix (Toucan) because the smell of these is intoxicating and I didn’t own any. And, lastly, the Super Shock Shadow in Coconut because I’ve seen it on two bloggers in person now and it’s STUNNING.
I recently went through a false lash meltdown: I was going out one night and I was trying different lash brands on… and nothing was working. The bands were too inflexible, they looked too plastic, etc. etc. Seriously, I tried on four different brands and I got so annoyed I ended up throwing everything out that wasn’t House of Lashes (which have never failed me). So I had an order placed and shipped to my friend in New York where I picked it up. The Bombshell ones are my favourite so far so I got a three pack. I’m also eager to try out the Iconic lashes because a lot of people seem to like those.
I also picked up a Milani eyeshadow primer at a Duane Reed while on vacation because I just don’t have access to it in Canada and lately it’s the only primer that’s been working for me.
Sabon is a bodycare brand that I first fell in love with in New York about a decade or so ago. I was happy to stop in and pick up some stuff but I kept it to a single item because the USD to CAD version is absolute BALLS right now. This is my absolute favourite product by Sabon: their Body Scrub in Lemon Mint. Between the scent and the feel of the product, I’m in absolute heaven!
And the last item I had shipped to a friend was the Too FacedStar Dust palette by Vegas Nay. I wasn’t originally sure I wanted this palette, but the price tag along with the extras (primer, glamour dust and mascara) were enough to win me over based on value.
And I am so very glad I picked it up. The Too Faced holiday palettes aren’t really doing it for me this year so I’m considering this my “Too Faced holiday palette”. It’s phenomenal. The pigmentation is incredible and the shades are wonderful. While it could be considered a neutral palette, there’s still a lot of fun ways to play with the colours. Oddly, the two warm brown shades (Millenial and Girl’s Night) are my absolute favourites – those colours work MAGIC in the crease!
And now we come to the holiday palette debacle. WHY MUST BRANDS RELEASE THEIR HOLIDAY PALETTES IN SEPTEMBER??!?!? This is Urban Decay‘s Urban Spectrum palette. It’s available on the brand’s web site or on Sephora’s site for VIB and VIB Rouge members.
Shade-wise, I prefer this a lot more than the Vice 4 palette (that’s coming below), but it’s definitely not a standalone palette. Every single shade in this palette has shimmer of some sort. They’re gorgeous, there’s no doubt about that, but you’re going to need some mattes if you don’t want to look all shiny all the time. I didn’t pick up the Anniversary palette a few years back, and this has the shades I wanted from that so I’m really glad to own this one now.
I can admit it, it’s the packaging that sucked me into this one. Urban Decay‘s Vice series always has a wonderfully large mirror, a well layed out palette and gorgeous packaging. I love how all Vice 4s will have a slightly different colour pattern on the top too – feels very unique.
But the shades themselves… are weird. Last year, the Vice 3 felt very cohesive. The shades were layed out nicely, there were colour gradients and complimentary colours… but this year I can’t figure out what the hell I’m looking at. There’s no brow bone shade (not for me anyway – that top left shade is more of a grey-pink pearl colour) so that’s awkward. I love the two oranges in the bottom left hand corner but that’s kind of it… There’s three oddly similar greens/aquas/seafoams in the middle row that kind of make me feel like they could’ve aimed for a bit more variety. I don’t know man… it’s a WEIRD palette. And I really only got it for the outer packaging. What a doofus.

Argh, I forgot to take a picture of the Kat Von DMi Vida Loca Remix palette ($71 CAD). This is the palette I was most excited about for Holiday 2015. The shades in this palette are to die for and I cannot wait to swatch them all and create a bunch of makeup looks. It’s a bit on backlog though as I work through the other palettes first! The only thing I’m not keen on is the packaging. It pulls out like a record, which sounded cool and all… until you tried to use it and then it was just annoying. Ah well, you can’t beat those shades!
The remainder of this haul are items I got from IMATS! When I found out that Viseart was going to be available via Frends, it became my number one place to stop. When I got there, they didn’t even have the palettes available to swatch yet (or even out of their crates), but I knew exactly which one I wanted – the Editorial Brights. It’s a spendy item, but it’s still cheaper than buying it at Sephora! Looking at this one just makes me so, so happy.
A bit of a random assortment of glitters from Lit Cosmetics. I originally bought three, but ended up going back later in the day for more. I’d like all their colours, frankly, but I’ll have to deal with building up my collection relatively slowly. In hind sight, I wish I’d gone for more of the neons, but hey, I gotta start building up this collection somewhere.
Grabbed a Z-palette because I’m running out of space for my Makeup Geek shadows!
And finally, a tiny metal spatula to help me get products out of containers when I’m getting down to the bottom.
/covers face with hands
That was… a lot. A LOT. I’m happy with what I bought and got, but damn son, I need to chill out cuz this kind of spending is not sustainable! How about you? Are you happy with all of the holiday releases? Or do you feel like they’re being released far too soon like I do? I feel like we kind of got dumped on this year and no one was prepared for it!
Another month, another roundup of beauty goodies. I have to say, I’ve been spending a lot less, but my makeup intake has been insane because the CBB keeps doing swap after swap after swap and I keep walking away with more and more products to try out!
Let’s start with the one item I did purchase this past month: Becca‘s collaboration with Jaclyn Hill resulted in Champagne Pop. Quite possibly the most beautiful highlighting shade I own. (Full review here.) This was expensive – there’s no doubt about that. But as a regular viewer of Jaclyn Hill’s videos I wanted to support her latest creation since I’d also been meaning to try out Becca‘s stuff too!
My first Estee Lauder product, I think. This was from a limited edition collection called Courreges a few months ago. The shade is Black Silver and there’s a LOT of it in the that pot!
A quad cast off from a friend. This is The Body Shop‘s Shimmer Cubes in Pink Poppy. They’re in truly bizarre packaging. There’s the outer layer that holds all four of them, and then each individual shade is in its’ OWN little plastic tin with a cap. Super weird.
The texture is a bit powdery, but the colours are lovely. I didn’t take any decent photos of my makeup with it on, but I did snag a shot for Instagram while wearing them:
A brand new tube of Avon‘s Anew Vitale Day Lotion. I’ve had no experience with it, but as someone without sensitive skin, I’m always up for free skincare!
I got this at the swap because it seems like nobody wanted it! I’ve been a fan D&G‘s Light Blue for a while… but as it turns out, I’m not so much of a fan of this version called Escape to Panarea. Ah well.
Okay yeah. I have no idea when or where I’ll wear these – maybe for a Halloween look? But they were awesome and no one else wanted them!
Shawna of Spill The Beauty accidentally ordered two of these halographic polishes and I was the lucky recipient of the extra one! I’ve not applied it yet, but damn can I ever not wait. Holographic anything? Yes PLEASE! (This is Glitter Gal’s Copper shade.)
I don’t know all the shade names (because I’m currently writing this while on vacation in Montreal – follow our blogging hash tag for the past weekend with #CBBroadtrip – we’ve been having a blast!) but I got some lovely lip products to try out. There’s a Maybelline lipstick in there, a Revlon lip butter in Peach Parfait (I’ve actually finished an entire one of these before – true story!), a AustralisVelourlips (if Sharon Farrell loves them, then *I* must love them!), a mini from Tarte, a lipstick from the Sephora brand and a red lip paint from a brand I’m not familiar with.
The imprint on this compact is gorgeous. And I love me a humongous bronzer. But the sad news is that Lise Watier‘s Eden Tropical Bronzing Powder is oompa loompa orange and I just cannot wear it. 🙁
Another cast off from a friend. This is the kind of shade I hate to love. Make Up For Ever‘s 210 cream blush is a bubble gum pink that has the unfortunate habit of looking lovely on me. It’s not the kind of shade I like looking at as it’s far too girly for my tastes, but the reality is that it looks really good on me, and therefore I love it.
The Make Up For EverPlexi Glosses are something I had passed on entirely because I don’t feel I’m a gloss person. I had several of them very nearly thrown at me during the swap, so I figured I’d try them out. End result? I can confirm they’re not for me. They fade off quickly (as to be expected of a gloss) and I just can’t be bothered with the constant reapplication.
More cast offs! I already owned Coral Cove, and I was happy to add Tea Rose and Love Potion to the collection.
A full tube of Miracle 10‘s Light Serum was left on the table after the swap. I’m not a huge fan of the scent of this thing, and it’s really only decent for hydrating in the summer time since it is VERY light. But I did run through a whole tube of it before, so I mean… I like it enough to use it all up again!
Ohhh yes. NARSRated R and RevlonMetropolitan. Both items I’ve been wanting to try and thankfully totally free!
Another item I’ve been wanting to try because the OlayFresh Effects packaging ALWAYS pulls me in. I need another foundation like I need a hole in the head, but hey… this one is a BB CREAM, so therefore it’s totally different…
A bunch of cast offs! A MAC paint pot, an Australis plush, a Laura Geller blush (it’s GORGEOUS!), an essence mineralize eyeshadow that is really, really good quality, a Kryolan blush (also stunning) and some gold eyeshadow cream/pigment type thing.
I don’t know why I insist on trying out different kinds of lashes when I *know* that House of Lashes make the ones that work for me the best. But I keep trying others… mostly because I hear about how everyone likes other brands. I’ve heard plenty of good things about Red Cherry so I’ll happily give these a shot!
I wasn’t sure what to think of Smashbox‘s Earth As We Know It palette at first. But then I created this:
I absolutely love the texture of The Body Shop‘s sorbet moisturizers. It has this frothy, foamy like consistency and is soooo much fun to play with… uhhh I mean fun to put on. Mango‘s a new scent to me and I quite liked the few sniffs I had of it.
Man, everyone keeps ditching their Wet n Wild Megalast lipsticks, whereas I just LOVE them! Here’s Stoplight Red and, one I’ve been meaning to find, Carrot Gold. It’s way more orange than I thought it would be – we’ll have to see how it looks on my lips!
And finally (phew!) an eight pan shadow palette from Wet n Wild – Petal Pusher. I’d always glanced at it but never bought it. I know the quality will be on parr with The Comfort Zone palette so I’m looking forward to playing with the shadows.
PHEW! GOOD GRIEF THAT WAS A LOT OF STUFF! I hope the swap stuff is interesting for you – please let me know whether or not it is. It’s all gently used makeup and stuff I’m adding into my collection so I think it’s relevant. But I’m not sure if people like seeing the swap stuff, or if they’d rather just see the brand new stuff I purchased.
My makeup’s been getting more and more vibrant as we’re getting into the warmer months – there isn’t neutral look in this whole post! Enjoy. 🙂
Um yes. So much yes. Not dissimilar to another look I’ve done recently (also using Makeup Geek shadows) but I love the extra pop of reddish orange shadow through the crease.

Holy CRAP. I wasn’t expecting this Lise Watier Aurora shadow in Violet to come out this intensely. I’m not sure the photographs show it, but there’s a slight reddish tinge to the shade too which adds a lovely dimension.
Eyes
I first covered my lid in NYX‘s Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Black Bean, blended it out, then applied:
Lise Watier Aurora shadow in Violet over the entire lid and blended through the crease. I first applied it dry, then dunked my brush in water and applied it wet on top.
MACDazzlelight on the browbone.
