Things I Want: Holiday 2015 Edition

It’s that time of the year where us beauty lovers go bat shit crazy. All of the fall collections are out and the Holiday 2015 collections are already starting to drop like napalm bombs onto our bank accounts.

I’m making this post basically to figure out exactly what I want and how much it’s going to cost me (always a frightening notion). I realize it’s September and the holidays are still MONTHS away… but my husband has been singing Christmas songs since July (no, I’m NOT kidding!) and I’m already feeling festive.

Here’s my “To Buy” or “Not To Buy?” list:

This is my absolute number one this year. I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. It’s not only got the perfect rainbow of colours but it even has neutrals in the middle. This would solve my “I want brights AND neutrals” problem when I go on vacation. Plus hello, look at the packaging. It’s GORGEOUS.

Price: $71 CAD/$59 USD
Release date: September 15th online, October 3rd in stores
Where to buy: Sephora exclusive

I swear I love the packaging more than the actual shadows inside! I think it’s something aout the layout of the shadows… they’re just not calling to me like last year’s did. HOWEVER, I loved the Vice 3 from last year and I really want to add another one to my collection. Those oranges are definitely calling my name! And how can you not drool over that oil slick inspired packaging? /salivates

Price: ~$70 CAD/$60 USD
Release date: September 25th at Sephora
Where to buy: Urbandecay.com or Sephora

I totally forgot about this palette, so I was surprised when pictures started showing up online recently. I’m torn on this one… I’m way more into the shadows in this compared to the Vice 4, but I definitely do not need more cool toned shadows in my life. There also isn’t a single matte or satin finish shadow in the whole box so it’s a LOT of shimmer. However, there are some shades in here that I missed out by not purchasing the Anniversary palette several years ago so that makes it even more enticing. This is an Urbandecay.com exclusive, so you’ll need to order from their web site if you want to get your hands on it.

Price: $55 USD
Release date: October 20th
Where to buy: Urbandecay.com exclusive (EDIT: Seems it may be coming to Sephora as well!)

Charlotte Tilbury – SOMETHING!

Charlotte Tilbury Holiday 2015
Charlotte Tilbury Holiday 2015

With Charlotte Tilbury recently launching in Canada it means I have easy access to product, and last year she had a STUNNING quad. I’m not sure if she’s coming out with something similar, but I think I’d like something from her holiday collection. There still haven’t been a lot of details released yet, but I’m looking forward to whatever they throw at us!

Price: No idea, but I know I’m going to end up cringing.
Release date: Unknown
Where to buy: Charlottetilbury.com

WHAT IS THIS BEAST?  This is about the only information I’ve seen on the new Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette and I NEED TO KNOW MORE. It’s not technically part of the holiday collections, but I figure it’ll be launching relatively soon. I MUST HAVE IT IN MY LIFE. (Side note, I wasn’t that into the holiday Too Faced palettes because the shadows seemed too similar to the 2013 and 2014 holiday palettes I already own.)

Price: No idea, nothing’s been released yet! But if the other palettes are any indication, it’ll be around $59 CAD.
Release date: Unknown
Where to buy: Sephora more than likely.

Guerlain Meteorites Enchanted Snowflakes

https://instagram.com/p/7OMFjvFgrG/

I’ve never owned anything by Guerlain, but I’ve eyeballed the meteorites for so long that I’m glad I’m finally cracking. I must have these beautiful pearls of goodness. Ever since I saw Steph post about them on Fun Size Beauty, I knew they had to be mine (even if they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive).

Price: $89 CAD (GOOD GRIEF)
Release date:
November 1st
Where to buy:
Guerlain Boutiques and selected counters.

Other random stuff I have my eyes peeled for are some kind of palette by Laura Mercier since she’s put out two great palettes over the last few holiday seasons; and maybe something by bareMinerals as I’ve discovered I really like the texture of their eyeshadows but I barely own anything by them.

What’s on your wish list? What am I missing from mine?

What’s On My Face – Volume 41

While this set of looks doesn’t top Volume 40 for epic-ness (seriously – I’m way proud of some of the looks in Volume 40), there’s still some really, really pretty ones in here.

Enjoy!

201508_womf41_look2.1

I can’t even rember why I was so done up for this look to be honest. I must’ve been doing SOMETHING important to warrant false lashes…

201508_womf41_look2.2

Eyes

  1. MAC Cork through the top of the crease.
  2. Inglot AMC Shine 28 all over the lid and inner tearduct.
  3. Inglot Matte 325 on the outer half of the lid and to line the lower lash line.
  4. Urban Decay Blackout in the outer corner.
  5. Wet n Wild Brulee on the brow bone.

I created the wing with the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper and tightlined my water lines with Marc Jacobs‘ Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer. On my lashes is CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher mascara with a pair of Houses of Lashes Bombshell falsies on top.

Rest of the Face

  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: Milani Tea Rose
  • Highlighter: MAC Silver Dusk
  • Lips: Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial

201508_womf41_look4.1

This look (without the glitter) has been a constant favourite of mine over the years. It’s one I know I can resort to if I want to look like my eyes are on fire and don’t have to think about the eyeshadow combination. Kind of a failsafe, you know? I wore this to the VIB Rouge event at the Eaton Centre in Toronto (thank you for the invite Julie!) and had to add on some glitter just for fun. Except I love it so much with the glitter that now it’s REQUIRED for this look…

201508_womf41_look4.2

Eyes

  1. MAC Gleam all over the lid.
  2. MAC Coppering on the outer half of the lid and through the crease.
  3. MAC Handwritten to deepen the outer corner.
  4. MAC Blanc Type on the brow bone.

I applied some Too Faced Glitter Glue all along my lower lash line, then patted on MAC‘s Reflect Copper glitter (THIS STUFF IS INSANE). On my lashes is Urban Decay‘s Perversion mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Bronzer: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil
  • Blush: MAC Ripe Peach
  • Highlighter: Becca Champagne Pop
  • Lips: Revlon Lipstain + Balm in Flame

201508_womf41_look1.1

This one is fairly “old” since it’s been sitting on my harddrive since June. I think I was trying to figure out how to balance coloured eyeshadow with bright lips. I actually think this works… but I’m not sure if I’m trying to convince myself of that, you know?

201508_womf41_look1.2

Eyes

  1. Makeup Geek Fantasy all over the lid.
  2. Makeup Geek Dirty Martini on the outer half of the lid.
  3. Makeup Geek Vanilla Bean on the brow bone.
  4. Makeup Geek Daydreamer on the inner corner.

I lined my lower lash line with Makeup Geek‘s Masquerade eyeshadow and created the wing with MAC‘s Blacktrack fluidline. On my lashes is Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: essence Life’s a Cherry
  • Highlighter: MAC Soft & Gentle
  • Lips: Too Faced Melted Rainbow

201508_womf41_look5.1

With all the hype surrounding the upcoming holiday palettes by Too Faced, I just had to whip out some of my older holiday palettes by them. I love their holidays palettes so much!

Eyes
(all Too Faced shadows from the Everything Nice palette)

  1. Shiny Happy on the lid.
  2. Secret Lovers on the outer half of the lid.
  3. Be You through the crease.
  4. Kindess is Free barely tapped on the outer corner of the crease.
  5. Dream On on the brow bone.

On my lashes is Urban Decay‘s Perversion mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Highlighter: Too Faced Inner Light
  • Lips: Too Faced Melted Violet

201508_womf41_look3.1

And last up is a look I wasn’t sure how to do when I first looked at the quad. This utilizes The Body Shop‘s Pink Poppy shimmer cubes which have a very vibrant hot pink, an orange, a somewhat timid lime green and a silver. That’s one hell of a combination!

201508_womf41_look3.2

Eyes
(using The Body Shop shimmer cubes in Pink Poppy)

  1. Orange shade all over the lid.
  2. Too Faced Cherry Cordial to deepen up the crease (had to use something else because the look would’ve had no dimension).
  3. Hot Pink shade through the crease.

I lined the lower lash line with the Green and Silver shades from the shimmer cube quad, then applied CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher mascara to my lashes

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Bronzer: MAC Refined Golden
  • Blush: Hard Candy Skinny Dipping
  • Highlighter: Becca Champagne Pop
  • Lips: Revlon‘s Papaya lipgloss

What’s On My Face – Volume 40

In my (not so humble) opinion, there’s some pretty epic makeup looks in this post. Either I love how my makeup turned out, or I love how the shots came out. I hope you like them too!

201508_womf40_look2-2

Let’s start this off with what I feel is probably my best makeup look accomplished to date. (So I’m going to post a few extra shots of it because I’m really pleased with how this turned out.)

201508_womf40_look2-1

We were going to the pub to watch the Womens’ World Cup final (USA versus Japan), and since my husband is American, I defaulted to supporting the USA. It was so close to the Fourth of July too, so this could’ve doubled as an Independence Day theme as well.

201508_womf40_look2-3

I don’t always post huge eye shots because I typically take photos of my makeup before work and don’t have the time to perfect everything. Smaller photos hide some mistakes so I have less to worry about. But when I do guest posts, or feature products specifically, I like to make sure that I get as close to a perfect makeup look as I’m physically capable of (since I don’t airbrush my photos). But this one, despite being done in a relative rush, was done soooo well that I just had to post a full-sized shot!

201508_womf40_look2-4

And here’s what I used:

201508_womf40_look2-5

Eyes

  1. MAC Cork through the top of the crease.
  2. MAC Crystal Avalanche all over the lid.
  3. Urban Decay Heroine on the outer half of the lid.
  4. MAC Blanc Type on the brow bone.

I then patted MAC‘s Transparent Blue Glitter on top of the whole lid using Too Faced‘s Glitter Glue to make sure it stayed in place. I then used MAC‘s Strike While Haute shadow all along the bottom lash line, and applied MAC Reflect Red glitter overtop (again with the Glitter Glue).

The winged liner was done with Kat Von D‘s Tattoo Liner in Trooper and I lined my lower water line with Marc JacobsBlacquer. I applied a coat of CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher mascara and then popped on a pair of Bombshell lashes by House of Lashes.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in shade 52 Vanilla
  • Bronzer & Highlighter: Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow
  • Cheeks: Elizabeth MottTints & Sass
  • Lips: MAC Russian Red

201508_womf40_look5-1

Next up is a product I waited far, FAR too long to use. It had been sitting in my “to use” pile but I never got around to it. And as soon as I did, I wore it three times that week! That beautiful neon red? That’s Kryolan‘s UV-Red pressed shadow and it is INCREDIBLE. Since it is a neon, it does need a sticky white base to make it pop. But damn… seriously amazing.

201508_womf40_look5-2

Eyes
I first applied NYX‘s Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk to the entire lid, blended it out, then:

  1. Applied Kryolan‘s UV-Red to the entire lid of my eye and the inner tearduct.
  2. Makeup Geek‘s Corrupt was used through the outer third of the lid, through the crease and on the lower lash line.

I created the wing with Kat Von D‘s Tattoo Liner in Trooper, coated my lashes with CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher and then put on a pair of Bombshell lashes by House of Lashes. I tightlined both waterlines with Marc Jacobs‘ Blacquer.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Powder: Hourglass Ethereal Light
  • Blush: Sleek Chantilly
  • Highlighter: Becca Champagne Pop

201508_womf40_look1-1

Playing around with some Makeup Revolution foiled shadow.

201508_womf40_look1-2

Eyes

  1. Makeup Revolution‘s Emerald Goddess all over the lid.
  2. essence‘s Smokey Day Trio (dark shade) through the outer corner and crease.

On my lashes is Make Up For Ever‘s Smoky Stretch mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Bronzer: MAC Refined Golden
  • Blush: Burberry Lip & Cheek Bloom in Poppy
  • Highlighter: MAC Soft & Gentle
  • Lips: SST Cosmetics Vitale

201508_womf40_look3-1

I swear this is such a vain post, but anyway… That shot on the left is my favourite shot of myself I think I’ve ever taken. It’s all thick lash line, fiery eyeshadow, chubby cheeks and intense steel blue eyes. AND I LOVE IT. I did this for a guest post on Vancouver Eyeshadow Addict back in May and somehow forgot to cross post it!

201508_womf40_look3-2

Eyes

  1. Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie through the top of the crease.
  2. Makeup Geek Chickadee all over the lid.
  3. Makeup Geek Poppy on the outer corner and through the crease.
  4. Makeup Geek Vanilla Bean on brow bone.
  5. Naked Cosmetics IV-04 pigment on the inner corner.

I used Poppy on the outer corner of the lower lash line and used Chickadee for the remainder of the lower lash line. I then created the wing with Kat Von D Tattoo Liner inTrooper and tightlined with Urban Decay‘s Black Velvet liner. On my lashes is essence‘s Lash Princess mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in 52 Vanilla
  • Contour: Makeup Geek Barcelona Beach eyeshadow
  • Blush: Tarte Charisma
  • Highlighter: MAC Whisper of Gilt
  • Lips: Revlon Papaya gloss

201508_womf40_look4-1

And lastly, a Makeup Geek look because I hadn’t yet played around with the new foiled shadow Pegasus.

201508_womf40_look4-2

Eyes

  1. MAC Cork
  2. Makeup Geek Pegasus
  3. Makeup Geek Duchess
  4. Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma

I created the wing with MAC‘s Blacktrack fluidline and coated my lashes with essence‘s Plump, No Clump mascara.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Bronzer & Highlighter: Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow

Swatch Sunday: Urban Decay – Naked

201507_urbandecay_naked1

Ah yes. Urban Decay‘s Naked palette. The original. The one that started it all! Where would neutral palettes be if it wasn’t for Urban Decay‘s glorious invention? This was my first ever full on palette. I’d had many a single shadow in my day, but this one started the obsession I now have with palettes. A lovely longtime friend actually brought this up for me from the US when it wasn’t originally available in Canada, and I was soooo excited to have it!

I’ve actually hit pan on a couple shades in this palette (something I’m not sure I’ll ever manage in another palette to be perfectly honest) and it is absolutely still my favourite Naked palette that Urban Decay has ever released.

Challenge Week: Urban Decay Electric Palette

201506_urbandecayelectric_challengeweek

You’ve seen Swatch Sunday featuring the Urban Decay Electric palette. You know what this sucker is about. This is about pure unadulterated, pigmented, neon colour glory all packed into one palette. So, of course, I’m doing a Challenge Week on this beauty.

It’s also Pride Week here in Toronto! While a few cities have had their celebrations come and go already, this is my city’s week, so what better opportunity than now to share some insanely fun looks to wear out to Pride?

Note:
I sometimes used NYX’s Milk as a base, but I can’t remember for which looks.

201506_urbandecayelectric_look2-1

Let’s start this off with a bang! I cannot lay claim to creating this look at all, although I did do a more amped up version. I stole inspiration for this look from EmilyNoel83 and it came out even better than I had hoped. That reddish-orange? TO DIE FOR.

201506_urbandecayelectric_look2-2

Eyes

  1. Slowburn all over the entire lid.
  2. Revolt on the inner corner.
  3. Wet n Wild Brulee on the brow bone.

I used Urban to line the lower lash line and tightlined both waterlines with my Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer. The wing was done with MAC‘s fluidline inBlacktrack and I’ve got Make Up For Ever‘s Smoky Stretch mascara on my lashes.

Rest of the Face

201506_urbandecayelectric_look1-1

I guest posted over on Beauty Infinitum this past month and I LOVED how the look came out!

201506_chelle_electricpalette7

Eyes

I first applied NYX‘s Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk all over the lid, blended it in with my finger, then proceeded with the following shadows (all Urban Decay unless otherwise specified):

  1. Freak on the inner half of the lid.
  2. Gonzo on the outer half of the lid.
  3. Urban on the outer corner and along the outside of the lower lash line.
  4. Savage through the entire crease.
  5. Wet n Wild Brulee to highlight the brow bone.
  6. Thrash on the inner tear duct.
  7. Slowburn on the middle of the lower lash line.

I drew the inner and outer winged liner with Make Up For Ever‘s Ink Liner and then tightlined both upper and lower lash lines with Marc Jacobs Highliner in Blacque. I applied a few coats of CoverGirl‘s Clump Crusher mascara to my lashes and popped on some House of Lashes Bombshell falsies.

Rest of the Face

  • Foundation: Boots No7 Instant Radiance in Cool Vanilla
  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: Hourglass Diffused Heat
  • Highlighter: MAC Soft and Gentle
  • Lips: I first applied Too Faced Melted Rainbow to see how it looked… but I wasn’t a huge fan. So I blotted most of it off and applied NYX‘s Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee which left me with a bit of a pink-tinged lip.

201506_urbandecayelectric_look5-1

Mmmmm I got a lot of compliments on this one, but I wasn’t totally pleased with how I looked in the mirror. That being said… the shots turned out pretty decent… so I guess the mirror lies? Wouldn’t wear that lip colour with this look again though.

201506_urbandecayelectric_look5-2

Eyes

  1. Thrash all over the lid.
  2. Fringe on the outer half of the lid and through the crease.
  3. Wet n Wild Brulee on the brow bone.

I created the wing with MAC‘s Blacktrack fluidline and applied Make Up For Ever Smoky Stretch to my lashes.

Rest of the Face

  • Bronzer/Highlighter: Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow
  • Blush: Milani Coral Cove
  • Lips: Maybelline Craving Coral

201506_urbandecayelectric_look3-1

So, soooo pretty. Loved this one! I’m such a sucker for this kind of gradient.

201506_urbandecayelectric_look3-2

Eyes

  1. Freak on the inner third of the lid.
  2. Gonzo on the middle of the lid.
  3. Urban on the outer corner.
  4. Savage through the crease.
  5. Wet n Wild Brulee on the brow bone.

I created the wing with Catrice‘s liquid liner in Dating Joe Black and tightlined my upper lash line with Marc Jacobs‘ Highliner Gel Crayon in Blacquer. On my lashes is Make Up For Ever‘s Smoky Stretch.

Rest of the Face

  • Bronzer: Hard Candy Hula Hula
  • Blush: Illamasqua Hussy
  • Highlighter: MAC Soft and Gentle

201506_urbandecayelectric_look4-1

This was… what I ended up with. I tried doing a solid rainbow for the CBB meetup this past Sunday and I failed SO HARD. I could not get the colours to turn into a decent rainbow gradient, and I think it’s because there’s too much of a variety of finishes. Rainbow gradients seem to only work for me when I do either all matte, or all shimmer. ANYWAY. This got a rave review from the other bloggers so I was happy about that!

201506_urbandecayelectric_look4-2

Eyes

  1. Chaos all over the lid.
  2. Urban on the outer corner.
  3. Savage through the crease.
  4. Wet n Wild Brulee on the brow bone.

I created the wing with Kat Von D‘s Tattoo Liner in Trooper and applied Make Up For EverSmoky Stretch to my lashes. I also applied some MAC Transparent Red glitter to my lower lash line.
