Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection (Review, Swatches & Looks)

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection

The problem with a Wet n Wild collection launch (lol – if you can even call it a problem!), is that there are SO many products to test out and try, that it means you’re going to be in for a long haul review post. So buckle up people – the new Wet n Wild Zodiac collection is a beast, and I’ve got every highlighter, eyeshadow, lip gloss and powder swatched, reviewed and applied to my face in this post!

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection

Available only at Walmart.com or on Wetnwildbeauty.com, the Zodiac collection features colour stories that center around the elements (earth, air, fire, water) and the twelve astrological signs. You can buy them individually or get them in themed bundles on Wet n Wild‘s web site.

The collection is mammoth, so let’s dive right in.

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Eyeshadow Palettes

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Eyeshadow Palettes
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Eyeshadow Palettes

Housed plastic packaging, the zodiac eyeshadow palettes are individually focused around the theme of earth, air, fire or water. Each palette comes with six shades of varying sizes within the same pan. You’ll find that some of the colours have a bit of a more shimmery overspray on top of an already shimmery shadow. It’s not apparent in all of them, but I did notice it at least once per palette.

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Air Eyeshadow Palette
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Air Eyeshadow Palette

I thought the Air eyeshadow palette was going to be the most intriguing, albeit potentially the palest.

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Air Eyeshadow Palette - swatched

Sad to say I was half right – it IS the palest, but it’s also the least interesting.

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Air Eyeshadow Palette
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Air Eyeshadow Palette

It was the first palette I tried and I found the colours to be incredibly stiff. I had to dig into the pans to get any kind of colour payoff (that shimmery lavender/blue is on my lid but it basically looks like nothing special!) so I was super unimpressed with this palette.

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Air Eyeshadow Palette
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Air Eyeshadow Palette

Fundamentally… this is a pale palette with weak pigmentation so it’s really not my aesthetic at all.

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Earth Eyeshadow Palette
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Earth Eyeshadow Palette

Thankfully, the palettes got more impressive after the Air one! This is Earth and it has an interesting mix of predominantly neutrals with a copper, bronze and green spark of colour.

On the eyes, the green behaved bizarrely… it deepened up significantly from the pan and kind of went a little blueish too?

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Earth Eyeshadow Palette

I used the pale bronze on the lid and it turned an interesting greenish hue when mixed with the more green outer corner shade.  The gold looked lovely on the inner corner, but the dark matte brown was really bad to work with – chalky, chalky, chalky. The whole palette was good aside from that shade though!

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Fire Eyeshadow Palette
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Fire Eyeshadow Palette

I knew as soon as I looked at this package that the Fire palette was going to be my favourite – and I was absolutely right!

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Fire Eyeshadow Palette
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Fire Eyeshadow Palette

There isn’t a dud eyeshadow in this entire palette – every shade was smooth and pigmented!

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Fire Eyeshadow Palette

While two of the reds are near indistinguishable from each other, it doesn’t bother me that much because it’s such a lovely shade (I ended up combining them since the pan sizes aren’t overly huge).

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Fire Eyeshadow Palette
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Fire Eyeshadow Palette

LOVE!

"<yoastmark

And the very last one I used was the Water palette – clearly inspired by anything and everything aquatic.

"<yoastmark

Colour payoff was good across the board on this one except for the brown on the far right – I found that one to be a bit patchy.

"<yoastmark

I went back to a look as old as time for me – shimmery green on the lid with a deep blue (matte-ish) outer corner colour. I used the reflective pale blue on the inner corner and I think this one came out really well!

"<yoastmark

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Highlighting Bars

"<yoastmark

Continuing with the elemental theme, the Highlighting Bars (and any Wet n Wild highlighters really) have become the item I look forward to the most in any given collection they put out.

"<yoastmark

These Highlighting Bars have a slight bit of glitter overspray that gets removed after the initial application. It’s not a TON of glitter, but some people (understandably) hate an overspray, so I thought I’d mention it.

"<yoastmark

The highlighting reflect is really strong on Air and Earth, semi-strong on Water, and not nearly as apparent in Fire (although that changed considerably on the cheeks).

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Air Highlighting Bar
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Air Highlighting Bar

Air is your more traditional champagne-pink hue of highlighter. Beautiful reflect on this one!

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Earth Highlighting Bar
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Earth Highlighting Bar

Earth has more of a golden hue than I was expecting based on the swatch, but it’s still gorgeous!

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Fire Highlighting Bar
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Fire Highlighting Bar

Fire surprised the heck out of me. I was expecting it to be impossible for me to wear just because the swatch deposited SO much colour on my arm. I do feel like the shade deepened up my blush (but I ain’t mad about it), and the reflect…. wow! Completely unexpected from a red-ish shade!

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Water Highlighting Bar
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Water Highlighting Bar

Water though… yikes. No. Nope. Negatory. Do not want!

Look, I *love* oddball coloured highlighters and I wear them all the time, but on me they only work when the base is pale and the reflect is a different colour. This was the opposite – the base was blue and the reflect was pearly. Fundamentally this looked like an awkward bruise on me and I really did not like how it looked. I ended up swiping off this highlighter before I went to work that day because I just could not get down with the colour of it.

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Loose Highlighting Powder

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Loose Highlighting Powder
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Loose Highlighting Powder

My favourite highlighter in this collection though? The loose one. Holy smokes is this ever something else! I fell in love with the Loose Highlighting Powder in the Goth-o-graphic collection (I still use it all the time), so I was excited to see how this one – Written In The Stars – would look on me. (And how cute is it that the sifter is made up of little stars??)

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Loose Highlighting Powder - swatched
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Loose Highlighting Powder – swatched

Swatched out, Written In The Stars is kind of innocuous right? I mean – it’s pale, it’s slightly reflective, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to wow you.

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Loose Highlighting Powder in Written In The Stars

And then I put it on my face and was like “oh. Oh. OH. OH OKAY!” This is GLORIOUS! Wet n Wild do some incredible loose highlighters and this is just yet another one to add to the list of amazingness. Whereas the Goth-O-Graphic one was more gold, this one is more pearly with a hint of pink. I love it so much!

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Lip Gloss

Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection - Lip Gloss
Wet n Wild Zodiac Collection – Lip Gloss

To finish off the collection, Wet n Wild has created a shade intended to be themed after each astrological symbol. Each shade is in their usual Color Icon formula, but the finish varies a lot amongst the shades. Some are glittery, some are creamy, some translucent and some are heckin’ packed with colour.

Wearing Aries
Wearing Aries

Holy pigment! Aries has a ton of colour in it! While the shade is gorgeous, because it’s a gloss it has a tendency to move around. Wear this on top of a lip pencil or lipstick that’s similar in shade and you’ll look amazing though!

Wearing Taurus
Wearing Taurus

Taurus is so much paler on the lips than I thought it would be. I thought this would look like Urban Decay’s Fireball eyeshadow in a gloss, but it really just comes across as a subtle wash of pink.

Wearing Gemini
Wearing Gemini

Gemini is freaking cool. It’s a pale, pale gold with a lot of colour. I think most people would opt to wear this on top of a lipstick to add some interest to the center of their lip. Frigging love the colour!

Wearing Cancer
Wearing Cancer

Cancer ended up being my least favourite. It was a milky mess on my lips and wouldn’t really stay put. I struggle with super pale, white-based lip gloss shades like this so it’s a pass for me.

Wearing Leo
Wearing Leo

Leo is like a more subtle Taurus. My lips but with a hint of sheen and glitter.

Wearing Virgo
Wearing Virgo

Virgo is so cool – it’s like a blue/brown pigment for the lips. I found this oddly wearable with the Air eyeshadow palette. Such a fun shade!

Wearing Libra
Wearing Libra

Libra is essentially a clear base with some pink glitter in it (feels a bit gritty). I’d wear this on top of another lipstick.

Wearing Scorpio
Wearing Scorpio

Scorpio is OUT OF THIS WORLD! It’s a deep red-purple with blue glitter in it and it’s incredible. I do struggle with colours like this right out of the tube though, so I *have* to wear this on top of another lipstick in order to keep it from moving around. This isn’t a fault with the Wet n Wild formula by the way – I encounter this issue with any highly pigmented gloss – I just need a base under it to keep it in place.

This shade is unreal though – I’ve never seen anything like this!

Wearing Saggitarius
Wearing Sagittarius

Sagittarius is one that has just enough pigment but not too much so that I can wear it on its own (without lipstick, lip liner, etc.). It’s a deep burgundy with red and pink glitter. I adore this shade.

Wearing Capircorn
Wearing Capircorn

Capricorn is similar to Sagittarius but it’s more molten and shimmery.

Wearing Aquarius
Wearing Aquarius

Aquarius is potentially the most wearable out of the entire collection, but it’s still fairly unique because although the base is peach, it has beautiful gold glitters thrown into it.

Wearing Pisces
Wearing Pisces

And lastly, we have Pisces – a clear base with teal glitter. This one would work best over top of something else on you lips.

Final Thoughts

PHEW! That was a lot of products and a lot of typing! Here’s your TL;DR:

  • For the love of all that is holy, get the Loose Highlighting Powder in Written In The Stars if you think the colour might work for your skintone – this was my favourite item in the whole collection!
  • The Fire eyeshadow palette is a winner, and maybe the Water one too. Earth was decent, but left me feeling like it needed less neutrals (that’s a ME thing though). The Air one was a total dud. Although I think it’s neat what they tried to do with the unique eyeshadow sizes in a single pan, I feel like it’s a bit annoying to use and will only get worse over time as you wear the shadows down.
  • The highlighting bars are freaking lovely… except Water. Hard pass on that one!
  • The lip glosses are some of the most unique and varied shades I’ve ever seen in a collection. I like the super pigmented ones, because the colours are unlike anything I’ve seen before. The pale to medium tones glittery ones would be fun to spice up a regular old lipstick. The only one I didn’t like was Cancer – I’d skip that one. Personal favourites were Scorpio, Virgo and Sagittarius.

Let me know if you’re grabbing anything from this collection!

Wet n Wild Summer 2018 Collection – Flights of Fancy (Review, Swatches & Looks)

Wets n Wild - Flights of Fancy

There is nothing that gets me more excited in drugstore makeup than a brand new limited edition Wet n Wild collection. Not only are the prices good, but I feel like Wet n Wild also takes risks and tries new things out with these collections which just makes it all the more exciting.

Wets n Wild - Flights of Fancy
Wets n Wild – Flights of Fancy

Their latest is the Summer 2018 collection – Flights of Fancy. Wet n Wild springboarded off the idea of birds and dove straight in. By purchasing from this collection, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Los Angeles Audubon Society, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect birds and their habitats. These funds will benefit a habitat restoration project for the Allen’s Hummingbird, an endangered California native.

There’s a lot in this collection, so let’s get started.

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Baked Blushes
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Baked Blushes

We’re starting off with the items in this launch that intrigued me the most – the Color Icon Baked Blushes.

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Baked Blushes
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Baked Blushes

The brand describes these blushes as delivering a “tropical glow”, so don’t expect a matte formula at all – these are glowy as all  get out!

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Baked Blushes swatched
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Baked Blushes swatched

…and they’re also pigmented as all hell! Fundamentally these are a really pigmented, really shimmery blush. In practice it can take some getting used to as you learn to balance the pigmentation with the shimmer. I found that these worked best with a super light hand and avoiding highlighter. The blushes themselves provide such a solid sheen that adding a highlighter overtop was often complete overkill (and I LIKE a lot of highlighter!).

Wearing Don't Flutter Yourself
Wearing Don’t Flutter Yourself

Don’t Flutter Yourself is the palest shade and definitely the one that is the most like a highlighter. Surprisingly, it does still drop a decent amount of pigment on my cheeks so this can play that dual role quite easily. I preferred using this as a cheekbone highlighter instead of a blush – opting to put it ontop the blush that I was going to be wearing that day. The beam on this shade is wonderful!

Wearing Hummingbird Hype
Wearing Hummingbird Hype

Hummingbird Hype is also heckin’ pigmented and has a beautiful sheen. Once again – no need for a highlighter here! This delivers my cheek colour and my highlighter all in one!

Wearing Dare To Soar
Wearing Dare To Soar

Dare To Soar had the most pigment and the least amount of sheen. Tread lightly with this sucker, it’s a pigmented one! The colour is beautiful though and I love wearing this shade.

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Eyeshadow Quads
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Eyeshadow Quads

Second in line for exciting products were the eyeshadow palettes. I had high hopes for these babies after their recent eyeshadow relaunch.

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Eyeshadow Quad in Stop Ruffling My Feathers
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Eyeshadow Quad in Stop Ruffling My Feathers

Stop Ruffling My Feathers is definitely the most neutral of the bunch, but it has a nice twist on it with the copper and pink tones. People tend to say orange and pink don’t go together, but those people are so very, very wrong when it comes to eyeshadow!

Wearing Stop Ruffling My Feathers
Wearing Stop Ruffling My Feathers

The pink tends to show up the least (it’s on my inner corner) and comes out more as a light pink sheen. The copper colour (on the lid) is incredible – buttery, smooth and soft.

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Eyeshadow Quad in Hasta La Costa Baby
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Eyeshadow Quad in Hasta La Costa Baby

Hasta La Costa Baby was an interesting combo of colours and something I’d tend to gravitate towards in a larger palette – so I definitely liked how they put these shades together.

Wearing Hasta La Costa Baby

The soft caramel tone in the crease works well to fade out the purple on the outer corner. Sadly, the purple itself did fade quite a lot by the end of the day (and I wish it had been a matte shade personally). The teal on the lid though? WOW. Much like the copper from the previous quad, this one was pigmented, soft and smooth!

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Eyeshadow Quad in Flock Party
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Eyeshadow Quad in Flock Party

Flock Party seemed to be playing off their Rose in the Air 10 pan palette as it seems like an extension to that palette (or to the ABH Modern Renaissance!).

Wearing Flock Party
Wearing Flock Party

Sadly, Flock Party was the most disappointing despite how good the shadows swatched. While the look above is pretty, it was difficult to build up the colours as I had to layer them a lot. I do like that they were able to layer, but I hadn’t expected to layer four or five times to get that outer corner pink/read shade to show up that softly. I wanted the colour that I saw in the swatch!

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Lip Gloss
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Lip Gloss

There are four lip glosses in this collection – two on the neutral side and two on the bolder side.

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Lip Gloss swatched
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Lip Gloss swatched

I am not a lip gloss person at all as I feel that there just isn’t enough longevity in any gloss when you compare them to a lipstick, but I was so pleased with just how pigmented and pretty these shades ended up being on me. Sadly, the darker two shades do bleed and feather on my lips, so I’d need to wear them over top of a lip primer and lip liner to make them work. This is not a unique problem to Wet n Wild‘s formula however – every pigmented lip gloss EVER has always feathered on me.

Wearing Fly Gal
Wearing Fly Gal

Fly Gal is a soft translucent somewhat milky pink.

Wearing Featherless
Wearing Featherless

Featherless is a stunning slightly peachy nude – if I’m going to be wearing a lip gloss, THIS is the colour I go for.

Wearing Shut The Pluck Up
Wearing Shut The Pluck Up

Holyyyyyy – look at this colour! I’m so sad it feathers, because Shut The Pluck Up is INCREDIBLE!

Wearing Pout of Paradise
Wearing Pout of Paradise

And can we talk about Pout of Paradise? What a glorious deep orange. I was so pleased with how pretty this colour was on my lips. I wish I had this particular shade in a lipstick – I swear I haven’t got a shade like this in my collection at all!

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Liquid Eyeliner
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Liquid Eyeliner

Wet n Wild also launched two different eyeliners with this collection – one from their regular range of liquid liners, as well as one in their metallic range.

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Liquid Eyeliner swatched
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Liquid Eyeliner swatched

The metallic shade – Gilded Wings – is as you would expect – a slightly shimmery liquid liner that requires a little bit of layering in ordering to get full opacity. Winged n’ Wild is more your traditional matte liner that doesn’t require building up.

Wearing Gilded Wings
Wearing Gilded Wings

Gilded Wings is really pretty, but since it’s kind of a molten pale gold, it has a tendency to gather around the edges of where you stroke with the brush. I had to layer a few times to get it to look solid. The metallic liquid liners tend to be chunkier than their matte counterparts which makes it a little bit more difficult to work with. This one was thankfully much easier to work with and not even close to as chunky as the ones from the Goth-o-Graphic collection.

Winged n’ Wild isn’t nearly as finicky (sorry no eye picture!) and much easier to work with. The colour is opaque and I love the tone of it – what a solid hunter green!

Wet n Wild - Flights of Fancy - Lip Scrub & Primer Water
Wet n Wild – Flights of Fancy – Lip Scrub & Primer Water

I’m ending this review on a low note (despite how many good products were in this launch), but these ones just aren’t for me: the Watermelon Lip Scrub would be well suited for anyone who likes the taste/scent of artificial watermelon. That person, however, is most definitely NOT me as I just cannot stand that particular scent.

As for the Paradise Primer Water… it doesn’t do anything. Over or under makeup I saw no different to my overall appearance (although I will note that it made my face feel tacky when I wore over top of foundation). So sadly this is a pass too.

Final Thoughts

My picks from this launch:

  • Baked Blushes: I loved these so, SO much. The colours are beautiful as is the sheen they deliver on my cheekbones. I’m not one to skip highlighter, but these were so pretty that I didn’t want to cover them up!
  • Eyeshadow Quads: Not every single shade in every single quad works out exactly the same, but they’re so dang cheap that if you like even half the shades in each palette they’re worth picking up. Stop Ruffling My Feathers was my top pick with Hasta La Costa Baby in second. I’d not bother with Flock Party personally.
  • Lip Glosses: I know these don’t work for me because of my feathering issues, but these colours are beautiful. The glosses are comfortable to wear and I’m so impressed with the colour selection!

I realize this review was massive, but there was a LOT in this Flights of Fancy collection by Wet n Wild. And you know what’s amazing? You can pick up ALL of the products mentioned in this review on their web site for a measly $35 USD. I think that’s an incredible deal since there’s so much in there!

Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic (Full Collection – Review & Swatches)

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic

Buckle in guys, this is going to be a long one! Wet N Wild has released their anti-unicorn collection (their words) with their limited edition online-only launch of “Goth-O-Graphic”. This collection dips into the holographic trend (which is really just duochrome) while piggybacking on the anti-thesis of unicorns – skulls and a goth-esque vibe!

Let’s dig right in, because there’s a LOT of product to discuss!

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadows
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadows

The first item that piqued my interest (and terrified me a little to be honest) were the MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadows. The reason I was little apprehensive about these was because my eyelids have never handled liquid eyeshadow very well. More often than not it’s a crease-y mess, but these colours were so beautiful it was hard not to get excited about them!

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadows
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadows

The Goth-O-Graphic colelction has four different shades and comes with your standard flattened doe-foot applicator.

Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadows – swatched

Swatched out the shades are interesting in texture: the paler shades are more translucent whereas the darker onces are more opaque. Each colour has either flecks or flakes of shimmer.

The two palest shades – Pure Intension and Mystic Dreamer are on the more flakey side of the sparkle spectrum. You get a bit of a broken up glass type look on the eye.

It can appear quite chunky, but it’s a look I’ve gone back to with other products over the years and I do like the look of fragmented shimmer – I think it adds a bit of different dimension. I would also like to point out that the colours are a heck of a lot more pigmented on the eyes (two coats) than they were on my arm swatch. Hooray!

My favourite shade is definitely Goth Tears – it’s a stunning blue shifting purple that goes on smoothly (there’s no flakes in this one) and looks beautiful paired with cool toned shades. And best of all? I had no creasing with these shades!

The only one that didn’t work on me (and turned out to be an utter trainwreck) was Nyctophilia. I was so surprised at just how terrible this went on my eyes – as you can see it’s a clumpy mess and I didn’t even bother to finish my eye look because there was no salvaging it. It creased within seconds and applied patchily – this one is a total miss for me.

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Metallic Lipsticks
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Metallic Lipsticks

The liquid lipsticks released with the Goth-O-Graphic are a metallic version of their regular line up for MegaLast Liquid Catsuits (you can see my full review of that range here). Wet N Wild says that these have buildable coverage and can act as a holographic topper. Let’s keep in mind – none of this collection is actually holographic. Holographic shows you the colours of the entire rainbow spectrum – this collection is more on the duochrome side of things.

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Metallic Lipsticks
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Metallic Lipsticks

As per their regular line, these Metallic Liquid Catsuits have stubby packaging with a scooped doe-foot applicator. The scoop helps to collect product from the tube and evenly disperse it on your lips.

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Metallic Lipsticks - swatched
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Metallic Lipsticks – swatched

The first thing I noticed when I swatched these out is that they are INCREDIBLY dry. They come out of the tube rather clumpy – which is in stark contrast to their regular lineup which can feel thick, but also really fluid. These are… chunky. The colours are interesting and quite dimensional… but it’s like they’re already half dried out!

Wearing Wicked Pink
Wearing Wicked Pink

Wicked Pink is the softest you’re going to see out of this collection – not only in terms of shade, but it was also the least drying and clumpy to apply. I love the overall effect of this one!

Wearing Pastel Grunge
Wearing Pastel Grunge

Pastel Grunge is so freaking cool – pale blue with shots of silver sparkle thrown in. While the colour is really neat, it applied supper patchily and could not be layered without getting too thick and uncomfortable.

Wearing Gunmetal Heart
Wearing Gunmetal Heart

Hands down my favourite shade is Gunmetal Heart – I’ve never seen a shade like this before! It’s a pale grey with a lavender edge and it has copper micro-glitter in it. It’s so incredibly unique! (I wore this shade in my Pinky Rose Bright Lights palette review if you want to see it in action.) It is, however, quite drying and a little bit patchy.

Wearing Death To Unicorns
Wearing Death To Unicorns

Death To Unicorns is a charcoal shade with some brown and silver glitter thrown in. It’s a really neat shade to look at… but uncomfortable to wear and clumpy to apply.

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - MegaLiner Metallic Liquid Eyeliners
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaLiner Metallic Liquid Eyeliners

I was extremely excited for these – these are the metallic version of their MegaLiner Liquid Eyeliner! While I’m not huge on the dip pot style of eyeliner, Wet N Wild does make some of my favourite shades (they’ve got an unreal blue that I love dearly) so I’ll excuse the applicator in favour of the beautiful colours they make!

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - MegaLiner Metallic Liquid Eyeliners - swatched
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaLiner Metallic Liquid Eyeliners – swatched

But these are… chunky. Dare I even say… crusty? I’m cringing so hard while typing this out but these come out of the pot in BLOBS. The brush is so coated with product that I didn’t think I’d even be able to get a clean line.

Wearing Black Butterfly
Wearing Black Butterfly

In the end, after two coats the liner is opaque and it looks okay… but you can see the thick blobs clinging to the roots of my lashes. The easiest one to apply is the white as it’s the most fluid, but for the most part these are just too chunky for me.

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - MegaGlo Highlighting Stick
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaGlo Highlighting Stick

And finally, the last few items in this collection are all highlighters. Wet N Wild released a whole whack of them with the Goth-O-Graphic collection, and I for one am always happy to see variety in highlighters!

The first item is the MegaGlo Highlighting Stick in the shade Hell-O Darkness (lol I love the name!). The stick is a cream highlighter with a blue-lavender shift. I found it to be more subtle on the face than I had expected. Somehow I’ve lost the photos I took of it on my face, so sadly I can’t share that, but definitely check out Melanie’s Versus: Milk Makeup Holographic Stick and Wet n Wild Mega Glo Highlighting Stick post – she has a great comparison and review there!

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - MegaGlo Highlighting Powders
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaGlo Highlighting Powders

I’m more of a fan of powder highlighters, so I loved the idea of the MegaGlow Highlighting Powders with their skull imprints! One shade looks bright white in the pan but it comes across on the cheeks with a blue shift. The other is more of a pinker sheen and honestly has a lot of pigmentation – so much so that it really only works as a blush on me.

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - MegaGlo Loose Highlighting Powder
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – MegaGlo Loose Highlighting Powder

And the very last highlighter is the MegaGlo Loose Highlighting Powder in the shade Moon Tears. If you twist off the cap, you can see that the sifter is shaped like a skull!

Wet N Wild - Goth-O-Graphic - Highlighters - swatched
Wet N Wild – Goth-O-Graphic – Highlighters – swatched

And here they are all swatched out. I like that there’s variety in the highlighter shades that they’ve provided, but they’re all kind of unique – not just boring shades of champagne.

Wearing Moon Tears
Wearing Moon Tears

My absolute favourite was the loose highlighting powder in Moon Tears. This product reminds me so much of MAC Iridescent Powders (which are now discontinued). It’s got a similar texture to Silver Dusk, but it’s more on the slightly gold side of things (Silver Dusk was pink-white). This highlighter is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and I think it’s my favourite item out of this entire launch. One word of caution though – the sifter isn’t amazing and if you tip this upsidedown with the cap on, you’re going to end up with a ton of product in the barrel of the jar.

Wearing White Raven
Wearing White Raven

Of course, I also love a good shifty cheek highlighter, so I found the pressed highlighter White Raven to be absolutely beautiful. I love matching my highlighter with my eyeshadow, and it worked out so well with the liquid shadows from the same collection.

Final Thoughts

Wow, this collection is all over the place for me, and sadly there’s only a few items I would recommend to you. I adore Wet n Wild, and I felt like this launch had a lot of potential, but the products themselves just fell very short in terms of quality. Let’s run through each set of items:

  • Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadows: These were surprisingly good given that I didn’t think they would work on me. The darkest shade – Nyctophilia – is a disaster though. Don’t buy that one, but get the rest of them – they’re lovely.
  • Liquid Catsuit Metallic Lipstick: The shades are gorgeous, but they’re a clumpy, chunky mess. They’re unpleasant to apply and feel super dry on the lips. You might able to wear them with a matching lip pencil underneath… but I’d personally take a pass on all the shades. 🙁
  • Metallic Liquid Eyeliner: Another no. Don’t buy these. The white was okay and the colours are pretty overall.. but I can’t handle how chunky these are to apply.
  • Highlighters: These are so much fun! The Loose Highlighting Powder was definitely my favourite, then the pressed powders (White Raven in particular). The cream stick was okay, but it didn’t have enough oomph for me overall (maybe better suited to people who like more subtle colour).

Phew… that was a post and a half! Let me know what your thoughts were on the Wet N Wild Goth-O-Graphic collection! Don’t forget this is online only, so get it while you can!
